Johnson had made it to week 5 of the competition, outlasting the likes of Rod Blagojevich. For this week, he and the other male contestants competed with the women to make a new Right Guard Total Defense commercial. Since Old Spice has the most noteworthy deodorant commercials right now, Right Guard was likely willing to try anything.
But Michael Johnson's Celebrity Apprentice time was soon up, for reasons that everyone is still puzzled over. The former track star gave Trump the news that he had a personal matter with his son to take care of. In spite of Trump's questions, Johnson would not get more specific than that, and had to go home to San Francisco.
The Michael Johnson Celebrity Apprentice resignation wasn't a firing, although Trump still seemed to get in a "You're fired" moment without saying it. When Johnson offered to come back in later weeks, Trump claimed that it wouldn't be fair to his team, since "People will be fired in between." So it may have been a cross between a resignation and a firing, although the official result was that Johnson left on his own.
Since he did not disclose any details about his son's condition, the Internet is abuzz on what could have happened. In contrast, Bret Michaels wasn't shy when he got the news that his daughter was being tested for diabetes. Since Michaels has struggled with it himself, he got emotional when sharing the news with the cameras.
However, Michaels stayed on and stayed alive on the show, while the Michael Johnson Celebrity Apprentice departure remained more mysterious. But thanks to this incident, two celebrities were out of the running after this week, as Trump went on with his regularly scheduled firing. After the women lost the deodorant ad contest, Selita Ebanks was fired for not being tough enough.
The Michael Johnson Celebrity Apprentice incident proved that this season is no less crazy with Rod Blagojevich gone. As such, the show should still have no trouble maintaining buzz even with him gone. With both Johnson and Ebanks gone, for vastly different reasons, there are eight contestants left for next week's show.
