Michael Luchies 2009 NFL Mock Draft Picks 1-10 Round One

#1. Detroit Lions- Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest
A contract with Stafford will be too costly for the Lions and may be near impossible to agree on before the draft. The Lions will not risk a holdout, and will select the best defensive player in the draft in Aaron Curry

#2. St. Louis Rams- Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
I'm going against the grain on this one. Crabtree is the best player on the board and the Rams have an obvious need at WR. Crabtree will bring buzz and ticket sales along with him to the Rams. The Rams like the Lions have many needs, but taking Crabtree, even if to trade him during the draft to Seattle, is the smart move here.

#3. Kansas City Chiefs- Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
The Chiefs have made the best off-season moves to improve their team, not they will focus on protecting their new acquisition Matt Cassel. Smith or Monroe could be the pick, but I like Smith overall as the top O-lineman.

#4. Seattle Seahawks- Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia
Seahawks get their QB of the future in Stafford with the 4th overall pick. Stafford will sit and learn under Hasslebeck.

#5. Cleveland Browns- Everette Brown, DE, Florida State
Brown was born to play in the 3-4 defense and would be a great addition for the once again rebuilding Cleveland Browns.

#6. Cincinnati Bengals- Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
The Bengals need a lot, but nothing more then help upfront. Carson Palmer needs time in the pocket, and if the Bengals hope to gain any yards on the ground, Monroe is an obvious pick here.

#7. Oakland Raiders- B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College
Despite the Raiders yearning for a lightning fast wide receiver (Maclin), the Raiders will surprise everyone with a defensive pick in Raji. Raji will instantly make the defensive front better and should fit right in with the Raider nation.

#8. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
The Jaguars will attempt once again to draft a solid wide receiver. The Jags have desperately attempted several times in the past to draft receivers and they just haven't panned out. Maclin should fit right in to the offense and give the Jaguars a star kick returner in year 1.

#9. Green Bay Packers- Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, Texas
The Packers need a pass rushing defensive end and Orakpo would be exactly that. I wouldn't be surprised if they went OT here, but because of their early round drafting trends going towards defense, I can't see them letting Orakpo slip away at #9.

#10. San Francisco 49ers- Michael Oher, OT, Ole Miss
San Francisco's pick is one of the hardest to predict in the entire first round. They could go Sanchez, Andre Smith, Tyson Jackson, and towards any of the OLB to play in their 3-4 defense. I think that the 49ers will take the safest and strongest pick for their team (regardless of Singletary) and will take Michael Oher to solidify their O-line.
