Michael Lynche, AKA Big Mike, has been one of my favorites from the beginning. He has a great voice, but I think he performs better behind a guitar. Michael Lynche's passion and raw talent become apparent when he is concentrating on both singing and playing.
Michael Lynche's "Eleanor Rigby" Performance: The Nitty-Gritty
Michael Lynche came from a performing family called the Lynche Mob. His family toured Florida and that's where his inspiration to sing "Eleanor Rigby" came from. Michael said that the reason he chose "Eleanor Rigby" was because it's a story and he loves to tell stories.
Michael did not perform with his guitar. Instead he opted for an eight piece string orchestra. In the interview before his performance Michael sad that strings in "Eleanor Rigby" were beautiful so he emphasized the orchestra part in his song. The vocals were good and he changed the song only slightly.
What the Judges Said about Michael Lynche's "Eleanor Rigby" Performance
Randy Jackson: He is lovin' Michael. Randy said that Big Mike has the license down that he can do whatever he wants and is enjoying seeing him blossom as an artist.
Ellen DeGeneres: Said that Michael can do anything and handle the different all the different sides of him. He took a risk for changing up the song but it was incredible.
Kara DioGuardi: Kara had one word: "Fire." She said that Michael had amazing vocals. He changed it up to add to the drama and the building of the story. She also said that he made an old song relevant.
Simon Cowell: Simon didn't love the song as much as the other judges. He compared Michael Lynche's song choice to a musical and said that he went slightly backward.
What the fans Say about Michael Lynche's "Eleanor Rigby" Performance
Kim Keason (Me): The song was tolerable, the vocals were good but I didn't feel the need to get up and dance or run out and download the version to my MP3. I did like Michael's all black wardrobe with a heart embroidered on the back of his jacket.
Jason Keason, 7 years old: It was okay but a little boring.
Kevin Keason, 5 years old: I couldn't understand what he was singing.
I had to play the song back to hear the lyrics clearly, so I do agree with my five-year-old son. I didn't love the song, but I didn't hate it either. Yup, I'm agreeing with Simon on his critique of Michael's performance. Michael Lynche will be safe for another week.

Post a CommentI didn't love this performance, but I'm still glad the judges saved him. I think he's better than Siobhan, Katie, and that teenage boy.
I thought he was alright, but the judges shouldn't have saved him!
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ :) :) :) @@@@@@@@@@@
I thought he was okay but that was the best I could muster.
I think you guys should be on the judging table! My husband and I said the same things!!! Jason and Kevin are right on the mark. Mom? Well, it was "tolerable" I suppose, but "boring" is more like it, Cheers :)
