Michael Nebrich: Virgina's Second Ranked Prep Quarterback

Lake Braddock Senior Football Future Looks Bright

Burke (VA) Lake Braddock quarterback Michael Nebrich passed and rushed his school into the Virginia AAA Division 6 state championship game last season as a junior. The question now is can Nebrich lead the Lake Braddock Bruins back to the championship game in 2010 and bring his school their first state championship?

Strengths:

The Washington Post described Michael Nebrich the best stating he "has caught the region off guard this year, going from a relative unknown to being named the Northern Region's offensive player of the year." Michael will be playing college football in the Big East at Connecticut so he has shown the talent and skills to play at the next level. Both Scout.com and Rivals.com rank Nebrich as a two star prospect. Rivals.com ranks him as the 28th best player in Virginia and the states second ranked quarterback. In my opinion his stock is still rising. Scout.com lists Michael's strengths as field of vision, poise and leadership, and running ability/mobility. He can pass throwing for 3,290 yards as a junior and 22 touchdown strikes. Nebrich can run the football too. He rushed for 1231 yards and 24 touchdowns, numbers many a high school tailbacks would love to have. He is strong and fast. Rivals.com reports Nebrich has 4.44 speed in the forty with the strength to bench 235lbs and squat 400lbs. Michael has solid academics with a 3.5 GPA which should help him at the college level.

Weaknesses:

Obviously any high school prospect desires to get faster and stronger to prepare for the next level. Scout.com lists decision making and Michael's release as areas he needs to work on. Looking at his stats one weakness stands out to me, Nebrich threw 211 interceptions last season. He needs to reduce that number in 2010 for Lake Braddock to have success and needs to work on making better decisions so he can have a brighter football future.

His Future:

If Michael Nebrich stays healthy the Lake Braddock Bruins should have a very successful season. His junior season caught the attention of many scouts and he was able to choose between Connecticut, Towson, James Madison, Marshall, Ohio and Miami (Ohio). Nebrich chose to take his skill to the Connecticut Huskies in the Big East. Michael chose the challenge of the team with the strongest conference and probably the strongest aspirations. The competition for playing time at the next level will be tough as will the competition Michael will face in the future. However, with his college decision made, Nebrich can concentrate on enjoying his senior high school season.

Ah, I would check your interception number. He had 21, not 211. It wasn't that bad...;-)

Wow, even athletes this young have a lot of pressure.
