Michael Phelps Bong Hit Story Reveals Press Negotiations with Athlete

Caution: Read Story Only While Wearing Protective Nose Gear; The Stench is Sickening

Golden merman Michael Phelps' marijuana hit is sweeping the tabloids, and if you thought the Michael Phelps bong hit story was bad, wait until you see what other little gems this tabloid has in store for you!

Michael Phelps Bong Hit Picture

Unless you have lived under a rock, the odds are good that you have seen the Michael Phelps bong picture which is now a hit. Thank the News of the World in the UK for the Michael Phelps bong hit picture, and the sub header which clues you in that it has the power to "destroy the career of the greatest Olympic competitor in Olympic history."

It appears as though in November of 2008, somebody with a surreptitious camera at the ready and constantly on the heels of Michael Phelps finally caught him in a compromising situation and snapped a reel of Michael Phelps holding a bong, Michael Phelps smoking marijuana, and Michael Phelps taking a bong hit.

Your mother must be so proud of you. Just think of all that money spent on a journalism degree to break the news of Michael Phelps being a pothead. The again, maybe the mom of the writer who so sanctimoniously ponders the end of the man's career should be congratulated.

Michael Phelps Bong Hit Photo Reeks Of Press Corruption

The photo was taken in November, and party goers who allegedly saw Michael Phelps, girlfriend in tow, taking the now famously infamous cannabis hit were talking about him being out of control. At the same time, the article alleges that "Phelps' aides went into a panic over our story and offered us a raft of extraordinary incentives not to run the bong picture."

Hmm...could this explain the lag between November and January, when the photo was finally ran? Negotiations behind closed doors, and Phelps' on the losing end of the price war? It appears that Phelps' spokesperson allegedly offered the merman for a three year columnist gig and events host. Virtuously, the paper refused.

Never mind the fact that some lowlife photographer had been following Michael Phelps into whatever dens of iniquity the paper is now reporting upon -- not to yank out the young man and bring him to his senses, but to take pictures which have the potential of ruining the swimmer's career. Moreover, one (okay, I) cannot help but wonder what said photographer had to do to fit in and not be pegged for a paparazzo.

Newest Endorsement: The Phelps Bong?

Riddle me this morality man: if you were a highly paid sports celeb of about 23 years of age and if you were thrown into the world of sex, drugs, alcohol, more sex and drugs, and fountains of booze - will you honestly tell me that you would emerge unblemished?

    Go Michael Phelps !!

First this doesn't surprise me. Second, I have to laugh. I may not smoke (though I have had experience which was years ago) I can't help but think of Robin Williams, "These are people who can eat kitty liter and say, 'That's real crunch,' These same poeple get their animals stoned. . That's not a good idea. Do not get your dog stoned, he's not that high up on the food chain to begin with," on driving, "So, they try and drive. they got this idea, "I can drive. I got it together dude! If I can just find my feet I can drive." Robin of course well known for his old days of pot use, does say that pot is not a performance inhancing drug.

    Michael,
Please don't ruin your life by getting involved with the pot scene. The only thing it will get you is pain. Once you are in the spolight there are people out there that want to take you down, don't give them the satisfaction. Everyone makes mistakes, there is not a person on earth that doesn't have something to hide. Please learn froom this and put it behind you. Go out there and be the great person you are and show the kids that look up to you that, yes you made a bad choice but it will not happen again. I wish you all the best I know you are one of the good guys.

JHC, Big Deal. He's human for lord's sake and 24 yrs old partying at a college in the USA. Does this make him a bad person, NO. A bad role model, NO. But it is a teachable moment for parents to talk with their children about drugs and celebrities and how they are held to a different standard by our hypocritical societies. Fire up another Mike when you want, but use some discretion please. SIGNED: A "HOMEGROWN" BALTIMOREAN MICHAEL PHELPS FAN!

Thank you all for commenting! Reggie, your comment was way over the top, sorry. Elizabeth, I am not critical of someone reporting the story. I am critical of someone with a camera stalking a celeb until they catch him in a bad spot and then taking pictures. I am critical about the sanctimonious statement that the picture their photographer just snapped ruining someone's career.

Yeah but you gotta understand that he is a celebrity figure and also an example for younger athletes. We as adults we dont care- but younger athletes will see it as normal thing to do. Moreover, there are rules and regulations when it comes to Olympic Games as many other regular seasoned sports. You just can't throw 4 years of training and spot light to the garbage- it will take the respect for the sport and yours along with it. So ban it is.
