Bad Newz Kennels, the name of the operation involving Vick apparently was involved in dogfights in several states and the betting on the fights involved some significant sums of money. In March of 2003, it is alleged that there was a dog fight purse of $26,000 dollars, each side having provided an entry fee $13,000 that would be awarded to the winner. The Bad Newz Kennels entry lost this fight and it is alleged that the dog was wet down and then electrocuted. Another dog fight ensued with an entry fee of $10,000 and Bad Newz lost again. The indictment alleges that Vick then retrieved a book bag from a vehicle and handed over $23,000 dollars in cash to the winning dog's owner.
From late 2004 through 2005 it is alleged that as many as 10 dog fights were conducted on the Virginia property owned by Vick and attendees from New York, North Carolina and Texas were present and involved in the fights which were reported as having occurred in a shed on the property. In one instance at another location, it is recounted that an attendee was rebuked for yelling out Vick's name in front of a crowd during a dog fight.
In April 2007, there apparently is evidence that as many as eight dogs were executed at the property of Vick because they did not test well in preliminary fights. It is this evidence that has resulted in the wide spread reports that dogs were hanged or drowned and in one instance slammed to the ground in a manner that would cause death.
The indictment contains the names of several of the dogs that were trained by the Bad Newz Kennels. Dogs such as Too Short, Tiny, Magic, Big Boy, Jane, Chico and Zebro provided the entertainment that resulted in their demise in some cases and certainly would have been vicious. The indictment spells out amounts of money that were involved and an examination of what is revealed in the indictment indicates that it was a losing monetary venture for Bad Newz Kennels. If the facts as outlined in the indictment can be proved and the reprehensible cruelty to the animals involved can be documented, it is likely that this could spell the end of Vick's career in the NFL.

Post a Commentfor a min. put yourself in his place and if you think he should be punish then punish him. a lot of people just love to open their mouth and say things they are not resp. for
After this loser gets out of the Federal Pen, no self-respecting NFL team would so much as even consider the offer of a job to this repulsive monster. The ONLY job this vile sadist may be suited to perform, and this is a big "maybe", is: DEAD ANIMAL PICK UP for the county, picking up roadkill off rural interstates for the state of Virginia.
What Michael Vick did is unforgiveable and he should never be allowed to be a member of the NFL again. The NFL is an organization that should dipict a proud heritage and the American way. Vick is a disgrace.
He is a terrible excuse for a human being and he needs to pay for his awful crime. I hope the judge give him the full 5 years to pay for the suffering to those helpless animals.
Michael Vick is guilty of killing 8 to 10 dogs,so let's imprison him so that the message is clear.STOP THE ANIMAL CRUELTY!! Then when we are done lets go after the president of the United States who has knowingly conspired to kill thousands of young men and women in a war that never should have taken,b/c there was never any WMD,and Sadaam never opposed a threat to us!! You people have your priorities so mixed up right now that its pathetic. You know it's quite obvious why those school shootings happened at Virginia Tech.....it's b/c they were looking for people who were fighting dogs.IDIOTS!!!
It seems to me that blacks are supportive of Vick while whites are not - just as in the OJ trial. Blacks still maintian that OJ is innocent although we all know he committed murder. Vick is the same kind of twisted jerk as OJ, and he is hoping to get off on the same sort of tecnicality. Hopefully this time the court will get it right and fry him. AS for Vick and the NFL, Vick shouldn't ever be allowed in a stadium again much less on a playing field.
Michael Vick did do something wrong, but sending him to jail, exploiting him in the media, suspending him, and now someone wants him to give a million or more to PETA; that is rediculious. If it were you how would you feel about the situation. Everyone make mistakes and I'm sure you've done something that you are not proud of. Should that be posted all over the media and you being suspended, and forced to pay a huge fine. People are being killed daily and because the suspect have a lot of money they get a slap on the wrist. I agree that he should be punished, but not to this extreme. Yes, we all can sit back and judge, but just remember this; as we judge others others are judging us. What will you do Diane and Steve when your turn comes? and it will come. Read your Bible and see what Jesus says about judging.
Steve learn the law before you make or solicit you opiniion in dealing with contracts. Let's not be so critical of the man and wish only the worst for him. Let's all
Let me first off say that I do not condone the cruel treatment of humans or animals, however, I think the masses of the viewing public treat animals better than their neighboring humans. Here it is the President and his comrades can be on national television gunning down deer, wild game, etc and then accidentally shoot one of his own, this made the news for one day and the coverage was so watered down it was almost comical. I wonder where PETA was then. You have "people" in the rural south (hills of Kentucky and bayous of Louisiana, etc)that have been breeding, training and fighting dogs and cocks for years and I haven't so much as heard it cross the airwaves or make the news. But all of a sudden you have this kid who's making millions of dollars and is a public figure and everybody wants to nail him to the cross for something that's been going on forever. It doesn't make it right, let me be clear on that. I just feel that we (media, judicial system and the powers that be) are working
Of course, money talks............Vick should go to jail AND give a million or more, to PETA & the Humane Society.........He'll just do something else because he is a SICK individual. Didn't want to call him a "human being".
It is publicly unknown who the cooperating witnesses are, but easy to know if one was involved since the names of their dogs and the specifics of the alleged encounters are revealed in the indictment. The indictment provides limited information about the totality of the wagering, but my figures for the specific charges show $22,600 won and $38,500 lost plus the cost of the property and dogs. If the cooperating witnesses are believable than Vick is toast. Should prove to be an interesting trial with my guess being witness credibility as the major issue. This will continue to be newsworthy for some time. Let the games begin!
Trust me, I'm hoping this ends Vick's career. With the NFL backing off, however, it doesn't seem like much will happen because you know the star-struck court will not do its job.
