Michael Vick Leverages Second Chance, Dogs He Killed Remain Dead

At Least One of Us is Boycotting the NFL

Timothy Frazier
That convicted criminal Michael Vick has been doing pretty well since he got out of prison and was handed a wonderful high-paying job in the NFL as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Sports journalists are already tossing around phrases like "comeback player of the year" and heaping praise on Vick's recent performance against the Redskins.

Some people are actually feeling sorry for him because he supposedly lost over $16 million as a result of fines and legal fees.

I saw a headline recently the read "Michael Vick's Return Proves Everyone Deserves a Second Chance" in The Daily Athenaeum. Incredible! So if Adolf Hitler hadn't been a coward and committed suicide at the end of WWII, he would deserve a second chance because Michael Vick proved he can still play a good game of football? Whatever editor came up with that headline is a bona fide idiot.

We asked the dogs Michael Vick killed for comment but they were unresponsive. Oh, yeah, they didn't get a second chance. Not many chances left after you're strangled, electrocuted, drowned, and buried in a shallow grave with other mangle corpses. Not many chances to begin with when you're born into a litter of pit fodder for the likes of Michael Vick's "Bad Newz Kennels".

What sort of world is this where a man can torture and kill innocent animals for pleasure and then be raised to athletic hero stature with all the associated privileges? People go on watching NFL games, buying NFL merchandise, and yakking about NFL games and pools as if it's no big deal. Because Michael Vick worked hard at tuning his skills as a quarterback.

Michael Vick committed heinous crimes and his second chance was a shot at being quarterback on a National Football League team.

Other criminals get second chances, which typically consist of low paying jobs doing manual labor. I guess if they really work hard and hone their skills at picking up trash on the roadside someday someone will write an article about how they prove everyone deserves a second chance, too.

Michael Vick got an early release from prison and went straight back into the NFL. And the NFL welcomed him with open arms. And the fans welcomed him with open arms, with the excepting of some who turned away in disgust and vowed never to watch a NFL game again.

For those of you who think it's fine to keep supporting the NFL, why don't you just admit that you don't care enough about the atrocities Vick committed to to bother boycotting the NFL. Just admit that your pleasure is more important than the intentional destruction and torture of those dogs...after all, it's obvious that's how Vick felt about it.

Sick, sick, society.

I haven't watched a NFL game since Vick was allowed to play again. I won't watch one again until two things happen:

AND
  • 2. The NFL officially apologizes for letting him back in

Of course, we all know that will never happen because there aren't enough football fans like me out there who are willing to put principal over pleasure and join the boycott, so essentially I have boycotted the NFL for life.

I have a clear conscience. Do you? Does Michael Vick?

Great article. I completely agree and haven't watched a game since and will never watch one again either. Most professions will kick you out if you commit serious crimes, no questions asked or excuses accepted. If I would so much as commit a misdemeanor, my professional association would deny me membership and I would be back working my retail job with $200k in student loans for a profession I couldn't practice. Yet, nobody would think this unfair. Lawyers, nurses, cops, pharmacists, etc. would all be gone. But, for some reason many people seem to unthinkingly accept a double standard between those of us common foll who actually work real jobs that benefit our communities and try to raise decent families and those the rich and famous who get to buy justice.

Adolph Hitler did good things for society, too. Doesn't excuse all the evil he did.

Micheal Vick as Adolf Hitler; Wow!

You make that comparison even Vick continues to do good things for society. Beside winning a few football games, he has stopped you from wasting all that time watching NFL football.
You owe Adolf, er, I mean Michael a word of thanks.
