Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles, Huh!

Welcome to Philly

Chavaun Scott
I was thrilled to watch the "Rematch" of Super Bowl XL. As I am a huge Pittsburgh fan. Well, just before the second quarter- even bigger, exciting (for some) news broke as ESPN's Chris Mortenson reported that Michael Vick has a team. After being out of the NFL since 2006, Michael Vick has now signed a 2-year deal with The Philadelphia Eagles. Yea, that's right- I know some of you are cringing at the fact that he was convicted of running a dogfighting operation is now back in a much more positive light as only we can assume, back-up to Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb.

We all know the Michael Vick story, and there is no need to rehash it- but just as Roger Goddell issued a conditional reinstatement of Vick, most thought who the hell would be brave enough to sign Vick and take on all of that negative history? Well we now know, the Eagles and Head Coach Andy Reid took on the challenge. As any football fan knows, Reid is an out of the box thinker and coach, and will ultimately be a tremendous help to revitalize Vick's career. The Eagles have an incredibly strong organization and strong fan base which are being touted as reasons to help Vick get reacquainted to football Michael Vick will serve a 4-6 game suspension at the beginning of this regular season, but Vick will be able to play in the last two pre-season football games. Michael Vick is also being mentored by Colts Ex-head Coach Tony Dungy, and that is quite possibly one of the very reasons he now has a job in the National Football League.

It's interesting, I think that if you can look past all off the negativity- and look at the stats of Michael Vick. In his history with the Atlanta Falcons (and that little fact that he was the No1 draft pick in '01) here are a few on his stats- During the first years of his career (2004-06), Michael Vick rushed the ball better than any other quarterback. He had six 100-yard rushing games and 102 10-plus yard runs, but he was also one of the top rushers amongst all players -- especially on first down. (www. ESPN.com)

You can check out Vick's first interview on 60 minutes this Sunday and maybe get a clearer image of what Michael Vick is up to these days and what he plans to accomplish in his return to the NFL. According to clips of his 60-minutes interview, it is quoted that Vick "shows remorse". The millions of viewers will have their own opinions- I'm sure of that.

Now, back to the Steelers/Cardinals game...Gotta love the NFL
