Michael Vick Proves Himself a Worthless Coward - Again!

Will Johnson
Michael Vick proves himself the coward of all cowards again. He was slated to appear on Oprah, but cancelled. Some speculated it was because some of the owners of dogs rescued from Michael Vick's torture compound asked to be given equal time on Oprah's show. Rather than deal with a public relations backfire, the ultimate coward was a coward again and he did what all cowards do: retreat. We can all tell that he is very sorry for what he did. I'm sure the guilt keeps him awake at night.

I would have at least some respect for Michael Vick if he was honest. After his release from prison, he should have made the following statement:

"I, Michael Vick, will not apologize for my actions. I have always enjoyed fighting dogs and I will always enjoy fighting dogs. This is who I am. I will not pretend that I am sorry for what I did. If the NFL wants to take me, I will be happy to play. If not, my parole officer will set me up with a social worker and he or she will get me a job as a janitor. Any questions?"

Such a statement would have at least been authentic. But to play the usual guilt/rehab/redemption public relations game for the sake of an extremely lucrative football career is inauthentic and cynical. Not that Michael Vick cares. He doesn't ponder moral or ethical questions. He is not even human. A subhuman beast is not capable of wrestling with questions such as authenticity/inauthenticity or the ethics of deceiving the public.

Hopefully karma does exist and the Oprah snafu will be one of many in Vick's worthless life.
