Michelina's Lean Gourmet Five Cheese Lasagna

Annette Robbins
During a recent hotel stay, my husband and I had accommodations at a Fairfield Inn near the site of the Georgia Golden Olympics held in Warner Robins, Ga. We had a pleasant, leisurely two-hour ride from our home to the Fairfield Inn. After checking into the hotel, we ate lunch at one of the local restaurants, followed by a quick shopping excursion for some dress shirts for my husband. As afternoon transitioned into the early evening, we questioned whether or not we wanted to return to the hotel for a few hours and then venture out to eat dinner. As time passed, we decided we did not feel inclined to search for a restaurant although there were plenty of fine restaurants in the area. So, after clothes shopping for a brief time, we opted to go to a large chain supermarket within a short walking distance from our hotel and purchased entrees for our dinner, along with a sweet treat and a loaf of soft Italian bread. I purchased Michelina's Lean Gourmet Five Cheese Lasagna frozen entree. I had not previously tried this item, but after tasting it, I was pleased with its taste and quality. I had tried other Michelina entrees and was well satisfied.

Instructions
Michelina's Lean Gourmet Five Cheese Lasagna is packaged in an 8-ounce microwaveable carton. If you choose to prepare the entree in a conventional oven, you must remove the food from the paper tray and place in an oven-safe dish. To prepare Michelina's Lean Gourmet Five Cheese Lasagna in the microwave oven, lift a corner of the carton lid to allow steam to bent but do not remove the lid entirely. The entree should be microwaved for three minutes, after which you open the lid more fully, stir the sauce around the edges of the lasagna, cover again and cook on high for an additional two minutes. Once cooked, let the entree cool in the microwave oven for approximately one to two minutes. When removing the lid, be very careful because of the hot contents. Use caution when serving and to prevent burns. Supervise children who may be handling the entree.

Nutrition Facts
The side panel of the carton lists the calories as 280 with calories from fat being 45. Total fat content is listed at 5g with 0g trans fat and 25g of saturated fat. Cholesterol is listed at 10 mg and sodium content is 560g. Total carbohydrate content is 42g and protein is 13g. These values were based on a 2,000-calorie diet. Points Plus as calculated by Bellisio Foods is 7, but this evaluation is not an endorsement of Weight Watchers' International as stated on the entree packaging.

Michelina's Lean Gourmet Five Cheese Lasagna was tasty and filling. I added soft Italian bread to accompany my entree. The lasagna had a distinctly Italian flavor that was delicious. It is made with enriched durum flour, and the sauce contains diced tomatoes, part skim mozzarella cheese, onions, celery and other ingredients. The product contains wheat and milk.

I recommend Michelina's Lean Gourmet Five Cheese Lasagna. Look for this product in the frozen foods section. I purchased this entree for $.88 on sale. Preparing it in our hotel microwave oven was effortless, and coupled with the entree being on sale, my pocketbook realized a real cool savings!
