Michelle Malkin - Her Impact Online and on Fox News

A Conservative Woman Who Breaks the Mold

Lindsey Russell
If you visit any conservative websites at all, whether your liberal or conservative, you've undoubtedly come across the blog of Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin. Her impact on the conservative community and she's breaking many stereotypes that many in the United States have of the conservative movement. While many don't understand why they should read her blog when they feel as though they hear her viewpoint come across as a commentator for Fox News, that isn't the case at all. Her commentary on Fox News and her blog, while supporting the same ideas, don't cross as much as one may think. She doesn't always support the conservative point of view or bash Democrats. When her commentary, column, and blog do cross, it isn't always clear which impacted which.

What is clear is that Michelle Malkin's blog is one of the most widely read conservative political blogs on the Internet today. It is difficult to find a respected conservative blog that doesn't link to and analyzes Michelle Malkin's blog. She has garnered much respect on-line for her clear, if somewhat controversial, commentary, and has earned the disdain of Democrats. She is, after all, an American of Japanese decent who wrote an entire book supporting the government's action of interning Japanese Americans during World War II. She is unafraid of speaking of what is on her mind and being politically incorrect. This is exactly why Democrats and liberals hate her.

Most important, when discussing her impact on the conservative community and the ire she raises among Democrats, is that she doesn't fit the conservative mold. Quite frankly, many Democrats chose to attack her because she doesn't tow the liberal Democratic line. For better or worse, women, and especially women who are minorities (Asian American), are expected to be Democrats. As with all Democrats, they are expected to support Affirmative Action and be Pro-Choice. Ms. Michelle Malkin most certainly does not. She is female, Japanese American, and therefore does not fit the model of the stereotypical conservative that liberal Democrats have tried to keep alive. She isn't a Caucasian male, nor does she identify with the religious right. Quite frankly, Democrats can't even fathom the idea of someone like her.

Due to happenstance, a little luck (whether it is bad or good has yet to be determined), and her personal views, she is leading the way when it comes to giving other segments of the Republican Party a very public voice, as much as the mainstream media (dominated by Democrats) tries to hide it or discredit it. After all, she didn't ask to be born female, Asian American, or in the United States. If one reads her blogs and books, whether you disagree with her or not, whether Democrat or Republican, one gets the sense that her political beliefs, which are primarily conservative, have been born out of experience, a careful examination of both sides, and research.

She doesn't have the egos of conservatives Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Newt Gingrich, or Rush Limbaugh, but Michelle Malkin is becoming increasingly influential in conservative circles. Whether you identify with liberal Democrats or conservative Republicans, you owe it to yourself to at least give her commentary a second look. If you don't, you might just find yourself uninformed when preparing for your next political debate. Michelle Malkin has done much to bring reality back into the political dialog and answer Democrats. One certainly don't have to agree with her on all or even a few of the issues of the day, one just has to acknowledge that the Republican Party and conservatives in general are not all white, middle age Protestant males.

Well, Lindsey, just where would you like Michelle to "TOW" the liberal democratic line too??? Is there a special place for it.?? I say yes, but, I am a lady and I won't say where......

First of all, Michelle is of Filipino ancestry not Japanese. Otherwise it was a good article. I have listened to Michelle and read some of her books. I would take her work seriously if she wasn't an "Opinionated Reporter" who worked for Fox News, and we all know how "fair" and "balanced" news source they are. If Glen Beck and Michelle Malkin is the Best the GOP can offer then our conservative party is dead. We need new leaders in the GOP that won't align themselves with the idiocracy of such reporters.

Michelle Malkin is Filipino Decent. Also, Michelle Malkin must be a very confused individual for supporting racial profiling for terrorist. The Philippines is known to be one of the most dangerous places in the world, there are Filipino Muslims that are vicious in the island of Mindanao. So, any ignorant person could easily racially profile her as a Filipino Muslim Terrorist, due to her ancestry.

She needs to come to terms that she isn't "White", with that said, she wouldn't have so much vehemence in her blogs.

I was there when Alex Jones "confronted" Michelle Malkin but, unless they take it down, the last part of Jones video on it clearly shows what a coward Jones is when he is not taking on 100 pound Asian women (incidentally I know a 100 pound Chinese woman he had better not try that with), here is the link to my article on it: http://www.associatedcontent.com/991808/judge_for_yourself_alex_jones_confrontation.html?cat=8

  • Henry Choi 10/10/2007

You're incorrect. Michelle Malkin is of Filipino descent, not Japanese.

Good article Lindsey. Michelle Malkin is sharp and left wing liberals are confused by sharp. All they know is how to disagree with anything Republican, whine and how to develop political correctness into an pandering art.

Tricks? Were you confused by what I said, Lindsey? Man, this girl is really dumber than I gave her credit for.

Do newspapers allow typos? Nope. It's not often that you find one in a well established newspaper. If you consider yourself a proper journalist, you will take the time to correct any simple spelling errors. Obviously even YOU don't take yourself seriously.

  • Lindsey Russell 4/7/2007

By the way, I certainly know the correct uses of you and you're. It was simply a typo.

Anonyblog idiots up to their old tricks.
