Michelle Malkin on the O'Reilly Factor

Don Lee
Michelle Malkin, noted conservative columnist, speaker and author was the guest host on the O'Reilly factor April 12, 2007. She did a fine job of hosting and was interviewing a man named Shabazz who crossed every racial line there is. She asked him if he would apologize to the three white Duke Lacrosse players who have now been found innocent of rape charges launched a year ago by a black stripper, since he was one of those calling for the most severe punishment the law allowed. He had been among those who considered the charges to be a conviction (without benefit of court or evidence.) Shabazz refused flatly to say he was sorry and tried to tell her it was a matter of race and he was defending all the black women who have been raped by white men. She pointed out that it wasn't the case. Three innocent men have been severely damaged by false charges simply because their skin was white and the accuser was black.

I was horrified when he called her a whore! He said she was nothing but a whore for subbing for Bill O'Reilly (a white racist, of all things) and repeated the insult more than once. Michelle Malkin is a respected journalist and didn't deserve such a verbal assault.

Whoever Shabazz is, he is a racist fanatic, entitled to the same strict censure just inflicted on Don Imus. Imus made one stupid remark using the term "ho" in reference to women basketball players. He has been fired from both his television program and his simulcast radio show. It was inappropriate, to be sure, but it was a general remark, not naming the women specifically or using the whole term, "whores." Rap music is filled with words like "Ho" and "Bitch" and how to kill cops and "Honkeys." Their obscene squalling is accepted as "art and music." They are teaching a new generation how to take crudity and disrespect to a fine "art." They make millions every year and win awards for their hate jargon. Imus lost his job for using the same term, "ho." Now Shabazz calls Michelle Malkin a WHORE on the highest rated program on cable television. Will there be a back-lash? Probably not. After all, being black, he can't be racist, right? He can say whatever he wants without compunction, right?

Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. We are blessed to have it. But every blessing should come with responsibilities, shouldn't it? You can't yell "Fire!" in a crowed building. You can't threaten famous people without paying the price of being a stalker. How can we allow anyone to use the term "WHORE" on a very fine woman with impunity? How can we permit false charges to be brought against innocent young men with no consequences? Imus just lost everything for using a term black rappers and performers use freely. Shabazz should pay a price for his undeserved insult directed at Michelle Malkin.

We miss Michelle Malkin on TV with Bill O'Reilly.

Why can't people act like adults when appearing on these talk shows? His behavior did more harm than good for his "cause." (I think he's only in it for himself, and not to "defend" anyone!)

Don, I recently wrote about Shabazz in an article called 'Free Speech'. I had forgotten all about this one. He tried to come to Toronto recently to spew more venom, but lucky for us they didn't let the jerk into the country. His little gang of believers tried to make a big deal out of it though. From what I read, there were almost more reporters embarrassed to have to be there) than there supporters of this fool.

Honestly, Jamie, I don't know what price he should have to pay for his bad behavior. He may lose some guest appearances with reasonable talk show producers. But unless she wants to sue him for slander or liable, he'll probably be allowed to keep running his face, unchecked. Manda, if you can think of something we can do, I'll be glad to try. Youranter, if those girls were "scarred for life" by one stupid remark, they need to be kept in a glass case!

BTW, being devil's advocate: what price should Shabazz pay? He has no nationally-broadcast television or radio show to lose. I don't know what could be done to him.

I saw that one -- and I'm proud to say Michelle held her end of this shouting match. But -- unfortunately, Shabazz is the tip of the iceberg. These guys are underground all over the place, and it's far from the first time I ever heard of Shabazz. I'd put money it's far from the last time as well. I think we may be entering a new phase of racial troubles, much as I hate to say that.

That is NOT right!!! What's up with that? Seems like a double standard to me Don, something should definitely be done.

I'm with you on this, Don. Shabazz and his ilk get away with murder. Add the 'Rev's Sharpton and Jackson to the crew. They can call anyone anything and get away with it. A white guy has to lose his job at least. What Imus said was wrong, but for these girls now to say they're scarred for life? Give me a break.
