As we stand at the crossroads for America, each and every one of us average Americans are walking around with a knot in our stomachs. Whether a proclaimed Democrat or Republican, if you lost your job, your house or have been robbing Peter to pay Paul, you are hoping for a miracle in our government.
You know better than anyone else what struggles you are dealing with because of the bad management in Washington and across the country. If you are truly tired of the way things have been going for the last 8 years, then Michelle Obama's speech gave you food for thought.
As I watched her talk and watched the reactions from the delegates and others, I saw the same fears, hopes and speculation in everyone's eyes. I saw tears in people's eyes as she talked about change and hope. We are looking for that miracle but are still skeptical of the Obama's true ability to get things done.
If you saw what I saw, you realized that unlike Cindy McCain, Michelle Obama lived the American Dream growing up. Coming from a poor family and working to get where she is today, she has been where most of us have been. Empathy and a grasp of that American dream is what we have got to have to restore this country.
Her words and her actions rang of honesty, true concern for America and empathy for Americans. Her lack of phony smiles and words gave me the final push I needed to decide. She stood tall on that stage and looked America in the eye and told you her beliefs and the beliefs of Barack. She showed us where she came from and where Barack came from.
America has been for too long a victim of bad government. We have stood by and let the government rule us into a potential disastrous situation. Economy, War, billions owed to other countries, no jobs and more. Yet we are still hesitating over change.
The Republicans continue on every news station and in every commercial to lie about Barack and continuously bombard us with negative, untrue statements and images. People like Sean Hannity will sit there and defend John McCain no matter what. Do the average Americans truly believe the garbage? Are you incapable of deciding for yourself? No one ever offers John McCain's solutions. Only deflections on every turn.
Wake up America! This may be your last chance. America can't stand anymore erosion of morals, erosion of our economy and the erosion of the pride that was once America. This is not a test run. This is reality folks. Barack Obama is like you and I. That is a good thing. Do we really want a man who owns so many houses that he can't remember how many? I don't!
Do you really think he will do anything for the middle and lower class? Don't be ridiculous! He owns 7 houses for peaks sake. Cindy McCain never had to lift one finger to do anything. Do you really want rich people in the White House again? Hasn't Georgie Bush opened your eyes enough?
Michelle Obama supposedly made a mistake in saying she was proud of America for the first time. I don't think she did. I wrote another article about this one subject. To summarize. Just look around at where we are. Have you been proud of America? I haven't! It is truly time to take the blinders off and smell the takeover.
The Republicans have used your money and your trust to put us in the middle of pending disaster(not exaggeration). Michelle has put that out there for us to see. It isn't a lie.
I also saw the racists reactions to the speech. You can still see the same look on their faces as I have seen my entire life. Having grown up in the deep South and white, where the Ku Klux Klan were strong and living in the 60's when the race issue exploded, I can spot that look a mile away. They are about to keel over because there is a real possibility that black boy is going win this election. Racism is far from over in this country.
That is clear with the arrest of the 3 dumb looking clown meth heads that were arrested in Denver for plotting to kill Obama on Thursday. They had rifles and were ready to take care of business. Their reason. "Don't need to be no black man for President". DUH!!! I am not sure where they were from but they were ignorant and stupid looking. Those are the people who have stopped progressing in life. They are just taking all they can and still talking junk.
The sad thing is there were many more there, than you couldn't tell right off the bat. They may not have wanted to kill Obama but they are still carrying that racist belief. Another wet blanket of the speech last night was the Hillary supporters. The news continues to blow the VP thing and the Bill thing out of proportion. You can see the Hillary supporters faces sour because she wasn't on the ticket. The news has lied and told us things like confusion over speeches and Bill showing out and other erroneous stories. They are there scooping up any dirt they can to keep Hillary in the spotlight. Justified or not!
Our conservative news media has seized every opportunity to make mountains out of mole hills on every turn. A lot of Americans are so out of touch, they believe it.
Is our country concerned with a great sounding story or are we concerned about America? The Obama/Biden groups are concerned about America.
You don't have to believe me, just listen and watch for yourselves. We only have two choices here. If we make a bad choice this time, we may not get the chance to correct it for a long time. Do you know China financed the war in Iraq? What do we owe them now? What do they own here? Could we defend ourselves if we had to?
America better stop fighting about Democrat or Republican and start thinking about survival and the loss of the American dream!
John McCain has been given many chances to say what he will do. Of 15 interviews and speeches I have heard, all he ever says is lies and speculation about Barack Obama and his days as a POW. Every speech has to reflect on the POW issue. Even when asked about the houses, he pulled a quip from his days as a POW. He said he went all those years without a kitchen table. He still hasn't told us how he will solve our problems. He just says what others are saying. No direct solutions to anything.
My question is, If he was careless and not experienced enough to fly the airplane and not get shot down, Why is his time in the POW camp any contribution to his ability to run the White House and the Country? What has that got to do with anything?
You got shot down John, you failed. Getting shot down is not a positive. Why did you get shot down John? You survived the POW camp. So did many others. That doesn't qualify you to be President! That only means you are a survivor and didn't want to die. So did many others........
What the hell does that have to do with what he is going to do to get our country out of the mess his buddy Georgie Bush put us in?
This is not a dream folks. We are at the crossroads. Michelle Obama spoke from her heart last night. She didn't give us the fake smiles of Hillary and of Cindy McCain. She gave us a look at her and her husband's soul.
If you are still wavering because of the color of their skin or because you are a Republican to the core, it's time. It is time to stop letting old beliefs keep you from seeing and believing that America can be great again. Not great because we are bullies, but great because we can see past the outward appearance of people and see their hearts and minds. Great because we want a working, modern world for our children and grandchildren. Not a downhill slide to complete destruction of what our forefathers worked so hard to give us.
Before the government was so dirty and so full of crap, our country fought to preserve our moral beliefs and our ability to give our children a better life. Now, we stand by and let men and women who make tons of money kill that ideal. Change doesn't come easily. It comes at a price. You can't be a taker and expect results. The American Dream didn't come easy for the ones who came before. That hasn't changed.
If you are not willing to pay the price to fight for better in the country that invented the idea, you should live somewhere else. If you are just hanging out complaining about life but have yet to lift a finger to vote or be involved, don't be mad when John McCain screws it up worse!
Michelle Obama spoke with grace and humility and honesty last night. She wasn't trying to get over on us or fool us. Her speech rang true with me and hopefully with millions of other Americans. Time will tell if America truly wants change or if it has all been a farce.
