The first swig of the newly flavored beer was a bit odd, to say the least. It didn't quite taste like normal beer, yet the fruit flavor wasn't strong enough to make you believe you were drinking a wine cooler either. As I continued to drink the bottle, it still didn't quite win me over. The flavor just was not a good mix, between the Pomegranate, Raspberry, and the normal ultra light beer taste. I think the fruity taste should have been a little stronger or a different mix of fruit flavors.
According to Michelob's website, each one of the new flavors has certain food s that compliments it flavors quite well. For the Pomegranate Raspberry, marinated pork chops and fresh veggies work best. The berry taste in the beer goes with the tenderness of the meat while the carbonation brings out the flavor of the grilled veggies. The Tuscan Orange Grapefruit goes well with salads and grilled chicken. Lastly, the Lime Cactus flavor goes best with ethic foods such as carne asada tacos or spicy chorizo-based dishes.
The target audience for this new line is females ages 21-49. They are usually the ones most concerned with the carbohydrate content of everything that enters their mouths. Michelob Ultra Pomegranate Raspberry contains 105 calories a bottle, 5.9 grams of carbs and 4.2% alcohol by volume. Normal Michelob Ultra has 95 calories and 2.6 grams of carbs, but the same amount of alcohol. The beer comes in either a single flavor 6 pack or a variety 12 pack of all 3 flavors.
Overall, I would say it was a good effort on Michelob's part, but they should keep the fruit flavored alcoholic beverages to the wine cooler market. The fruit flavor was so slight that it was hardly noticeable and not quite strong enough to call it a fruit infused flavored beer.

Post a Commenti heard that they were pulling the cactus grapefruit/orange of the market? is this true? I love this flavor....
I tried the Lime Cactus and LOVE it! The Pom/Ras is interesting. I don't mind one, but don't think I could handle any more then that. I'd love to get my hands on some grapefruit/orange... Haven't seen them at all!
i think all 3 are delicious. i love to take down the variety 6 pack on a nice summer night. it's fantastic!
very interesting! i'll have to check them out!
Interesting product. I don't recall seeing these in the beer freezer at the grocery store. Fruit and beer just sounds wierd anyhow. Great review.
If it tastes anything like shandy (beer and lemonade), count me out.
