The cheats can be triggered within the Post Office, which is initially locked. To open it, you must collect nine of the eighteen nuts scattered throughout the overworld. Each of the six characters (Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto) can only collect three nuts, and they collectively cannot hold more than nine nuts. Once nine nuts have been picked up, visit Chip and Dale's Tree House, located north of the train station. There, you must pay twenty Disney Dollars to unlock their first challenge, in which they will give you the Post Office Key in exchange for nine nuts. With the key, you can enter the Post Office in the southeast corner of Mickey's home town.
In the Post Office, you can choose to check mail, which comes in the form of a variety of envelopes, most with two cheats that can be activated. There are six of these envelopes and eleven cheats in all. To unlock these cheats, you will need to complete all of the races with a single character. For example, all of Mickey's cheats are unlocked when all of his races are finished. Most of the cheats can be used on the racetracks, but bear in mind that if you use a cheat, you cannot win any tokens or Disney Dollars, nor will it count towards beating Chip and Dale's time trials. The cheats are as follows...
Credits: Pretty self-explanatory, really. Here, you can watch the credits at any time without having to beat the entire game. Seeing as how a lot of the later challenges can be quite tough to master, particularly the Pluto mini games, this could be a good thing for some players.
Disco Mode: On the tracks, the music speeds up, and the track will flash like crazy, as if you were in a nightclub. Quite weird, and not for those who suffer from epilepsy.
Submarine Mode: This makes your vehicle transparent, and perhaps invisible to the other drivers.
Pinball Mode: When your vehicle hits a wall, it will bounce off just like a pinball. Only for those who have gotten the hang of controlling the vehicles.
Change Camera: Here, you can change the camera angles, placing the camera as close or as far away from the driver as you wish.
Turbo Speed: This option makes your vehicle go ridiculously fast. A great way to beat your opponents to the finish line, though it will not help you progress through the story mode.
Time Trials: As with many other racing games, this mode has you racing on the tracks by yourself, trying to set a record without having to deal with any opponents. It is a good thing when you are practicing to beat Chip and Dale's records, but it will not count if you use the Time Trial mode to try and break the records.
Classic Mode: The background will change from color to black and white, as if you were playing on the original Game Boy. The vehicles will remained colorized, though.
RC Mode: In a nod to Rare's earlier RC Pro-Am game, every vehicle becomes an RC vehicle.
These are the secrets that can be unlocked if you are willing to put up with the increasingly difficult races and the time it takes to upgrade your vehicles to ensure that you become victorious in the later races. Many of them are just for fun, some of them can help you improve on each track, but all of them are proof that Rare is excellent when it comes to including a lot of neat cheats. Even their lesser-known titles are chock full of cool secrets, and this one is no exception. I hope that this list of cheats will contribute to the relative lack of resources online for Mickey's Racing Adventure. As I stated in my review for the game elsewhere on this site, it can be fun, but it can also try one's patience. At least with interesting cheats such as these, playing the game can be well worth the effort.
