Microjets Could Be the Future of Air Travel

The concept behind air travel is truly remarkable especially when you consider the Atlantic can be crossed in under ten hours. One thing is for sure its certainly made international business a lot easier. Also from a personal point of view many more vacation spots have opened up due to air travel. Unfortunately every great idea quickly develops disadvantages once the idea is implemented. The biggest problem is it can quickly become inpersonal. Its no problem if you have the money to pay for the executive service, but for everyone else it can become hectic. The biggest problem is a packed aircraft with little room to move. The very rich are able to enjoy private jets to get away from this problem. Step forward the microjet that could soon be a handy alternative to the packed aircraft. Its expected to be affordable enough so most of us can afford it once in a while. By the year 2010 its estimated that there will be more than a thousand in operation.

The major company behind these exciting aircrafts will be Eclipse Aviation and one of the first aircraft will be Eclipse 500. These jets are expected to seat between six and eight people and are less expensive than traditional private jets. One of the biggest criticism of commercial air travel is the social disconnection. These new microjets will be ideal for small parties going away as they can interact as they travel. Even in the situation where your with people you don't know there can be calm social situation quite different from traditional air travel. Air travel is unique from other forms of world travel in that there is virtually no prospect of being comfortable or social interactions. There is virtually no space to move. Anything that can be done to make it all a more pleasant experience has to be advantageous.

I think that is concept is an excellent one the difference in price between the classes of travel is vast. It shouldn't be necessary to be a millionaire to enjoy comfortable air travel. Many of the big airlines realize the demand of this type of travel and are already ordering up the aircraft. Very soon this type of travel will be available to many people and not just the extremely rich. Initially the price will be fairly high as airlines will have to pay off the one million plus price tags of buying these jets. I expect as the price drops this to become a very popular form of travel.
