Using a keyboard can be one of the more tiring aspects of using a computer. I have been a computer user for over twenty years, and at the end of the day my wrists would be tried. Until recent years, I never really gave it much thought.

Experts have realized that placement of the hands and repetitive motion can lead o a medical condition called "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome". With my hands and wrists bothering me after a day of working, I decided to check into the problem. I began seeing ergonomic keyboards coming on the market. I looked at some of them and they didn't seem like they would work for me. I finally saw the Microsoft Natural line and decided to go try one out.

I found the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 at Best Buy for $62.95. The first thing that struck me about it is that it has the split key arrangement that I looked at a few years ago when the ergonomic keyboards first came out. It also has a slight upward incline in the middle. I was a bit skeptical that this could work for me, but I gave it a try.

One of the first things you need to make sure of when using this style of keyboard like the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is proper hand placement. For me that meant using the keyboard drawer on my desk that I had previously disdained.

Getting used to the split keyboard is a challenge. The Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 does feel more natural though once you start using it. Your hands and wrists are placed in more of a natural position.

The Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 itself has some features that make it a pleasure to use. For example; In between the two main key areas of the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is a zoom slider. This is a nice feature to have when you are surfing the web and run across a page with small letters.

The Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 also places keys that are used frequently in a more easily reached location, such as the equal sign, left and right parenthesis, and backspace are located right above the number pad.

I have been using the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 for about three months now, and I have found myself needing to take few breaks. Something I had not been aware I was doing before this keyboard was rubbing my wrists when taking a break.

If you do a lot of work on your computer I highly recommend you get a ergonomic keyboard. The Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is the one to get.
