Microsoft Office for the Apple iPad? Office to Invade the iPad

Microsoft Plans an Office Suite for the Apple iPad

The Apple iPad is on the way and while some are planning to compete with it, Microsoft is thinking of making the iPad an ally. The Apple iPad will feature iWork, but Microsoft is hoping to land Microsoft Office on Apple's iPad.

Microsoft Office is a collection of office related programs that allows users to type papers, organize spread sheets, create presentations and more. Microsoft Office is the highest selling Office suite on the market and although it's primarily featured on the PC platform, Microsoft has also made Mac versions for Apple computers in the past.

The buzz surrounding the Apple iPad is so huge that Microsoft's Senior Product manager, Mike Tedesco, is already planning on making the Apple iPad another cash cow for Microsoft. T3.com caught up with Mike Tedesco, who stated that the possibility of adding Microsoft Office to the iPad was "Something that we're [Microsoft] looking at." Mike Tedesco also stated that the iPad is still a fresh idea and he couldn't discuss the matter too much at the time.

Mike Tedesco's political wordplay dance can be roughly translated as saying "Heck yea, we will definitely add a Microsoft Word suite to the iPad - if the numbers do well enough." It's obvious that Microsoft couldn't discuss too much on the matter, but the addition of Microsoft Office to the Apple iPad would definitely be a win-win-win for the iPad users, Microsoft, and Apple alike.

Microsoft Office for the Mac has done pretty well and Microsoft has already created other Office suites (Office 95', 03', 07', Home and Student, Professional, Standard, Small Business, Plus, Enterprise, Mac, and soon Office 2010), which goes to show that Microsoft will create Microsoft Office suites for anyone willing to fork over the cash for them - and there will be plenty of buyers on the Apple iPad. Office for the iPad will create a great alternative to those that have grown accustomed to Microsoft Office suites in the past and aren't that familiar with iWork. This is an adaptation that I'm looking forward to when I finally get my hands on an Apple iPad.
