Microsoft Product Review: Windows Vista

Bruce Bostwick
All right so I'm going to personally review Windows Vista with using it. It is currently the latest one out but it is the Home Premium Edition so it won't reflect on all the products related to Vista. It does require at least 512 MB of RAM for it to even run but make sure to have 1 GB of RAM to make sure that it runs with stability.

Pros

The graphics for Vista is actually pretty good. The menu bar while it doesn't have the classic look initially, it can be taken care of by switching it to classic. The icons themselves are very similar to that of the previous version, no real difference whatsoever that was noticeable. The task manager is the same, just push control+alt+delete has a different style and brings up an option as to what to do whether shutting down, restarting, or opening up the task manager. It's not a huge problem and it's fine to have at least a couple options. The programs for the most part weren't a problem at all as they I had no problems with questions being asked and could get stuff done.

Cons

One minor gripe from my own experience and it has to do with Windows Explorer freezing up and having to restart a couple times. That was really one of my only minor gripes and didn't have problems with access to web programs. Once in a while, there is some Internet Explorer pop ups that comes out like crazy but that's just a minor problem but that's only if you have the Internet. There's really nothing to major that I can fault with version of Vista with exactly.

Overall

I think Vista isn't that bad of a system. I mean sure it has upgraded items like Internet Explorer 7 and Windows Media 11 but those aren't too bad. Windows Media 11 is actually a really good system and I find no faults with and it plays videos for me pretty good. I would say that if you were to get this, you can get the Home Premium and it's that bad of a system. The security updates are there and it's going to be needed but try not to have too much protection on it because there is an old saying that too much of anything is a bad thing. As far as can you play old classic games like Doom, if you got the Doom Collector's Edition, it works just fine, the sound and music is there as if you are playing the original game for example or if you haven't upgraded Microsoft Office to 2007, you can use 2000 for sure. That would be my estimate on how far down on that you can go but it might be even lower so don't quote me on that. I don't have that many problems with Vista personally so I'm only speaking from my own experience.
