USB Port Issues
If the receiver is connected to a malfunctioning USB or has been knocked loose, the computer cannot detect the wireless keyboard. Remove the USB receiver and place it into another available USB slot and wait for the receiver to detect the keyboard.
Wireless Communication Issues
If the light on the wireless receiver is off or the keyboard is responding erratically the device may not be synced properly. You can resynchronize the connection between the keyboard and receiver to resolve communication issues.
Resynchronize by pressing the button on the receiver until the light blinks green. Next, the connection button should be pressed on the keyboard; this button may be located on the top corners of the keyboard or on the underside. A steady green light indicates proper functioning.
Power Issues
Since the keyboard is not connected directly to the computer, the keyboard is powered by AA or AAA batteries. Turn the keyboard over and locate the battery compartment. Replace the old batteries and close the compartment. You may need to resynchronize the connection after doing this.
Outdated Firmware
Some devices require software or firmware to properly work with a computer's operating system. If the computer software is not up to date, you may notice erratic functioning. If your keyboard came with a CD with drivers or software on it, reinstall the drivers. You can also resynchronize the device and see if Window's New Hardware Wizard pops up on screen. If it does, follow the on screen prompts to download drivers from Microsoft.
Interference
Occasionally other wireless or electronic devices can interfere with a cordless keyboard and cause the keyboard to function in an erratic way. You can minimize interference risks by keeping other wireless devices away from the keyboard and receiver. Also keep cell phones, cordless phones, and metal objects away from the keyboard and receiver areas. Make sure you are using your keyboard on a firm and flat surface that is within a few feet of the wireless receiver. Keep other wireless keyboards being used on other computers about 6 feet away from the keyboard.
