Microsoft Word Tasks You Need to Know in Order to Be Employable

Whenever you are looking for a job today you will notice that computer skills are really important. With this in mind, here are some simple things that you should know how to do within Microsoft Word.

Spelling And Grammar Check

First of all, it is important to understand that all of the Microsoft Office products come with both spell and grammar check capabilities included within them. It is a good idea to get into the habit of always using it. This way you don't risk looking or sounding uneducated.

Secondly, most web browsers also include spell and grammar check. So, whenever you are responding to a comment on a forum, writing an email in your web based email account or filling out a form, you should use it. These are much simpler than the ones that come with Microsoft Office and will simply provide you with a red underline to let you know whenever something is misspelled.

Cut, Copy & Paste

Learn how to cut and paste information between documents. This is a feature that has been readily available for use in word processing software for at least the past 20 years now. With Windows this is an incredibly easy task. You simply highlight the text, right click on it and choose either copy or paste. By doing this it is really easy to create a new document out of already existing documents. The same thing can also be done with web content and graphics. Three other keys that will make this process even quicker for you are Ctrl+A (This will highlight an entire page for you.); Ctrl+C (This will copy anything that you have highlighted.); and Ctrl+V (This will paste anything that you have copied onto your clipboard.)

Printing Documents

For some reason people have a difficult time understanding the difference between portrait and landscape. This adds up to a lot of time being wasted while trying to print odd sized documents on a standard sized piece of paper. While you are learning this skill, you should also learn about the idea of printing to a file, which can be a really strange concept for some people.
