It is an unspoken threat that the U.S. will target Iranian nuclear facilities with 30,000 pound, bunker-busting bombs if solid evidence comes to light that Iran develops weapons-grade fissile material. The argument for such an attack is that a nuclear-armed Iran would destabilize the region, advance the probability of Islamic radicalism and diminish the possibility of bringing peace to the Middle East.
Now I ask you; since the same end results -- regional destabilization, stoking Islamic radicalism and recurring violence -- are even more virulent as a result of Israel's aggressive policy of encroaching upon UN-mandated Palestinian territory, shouldn't the same threat be on the table? How much longer will we put up with Israeli intransigence, belligerence and genocide?
It's time for America to stop issuing "harsh rebukes" and simply bomb any new settlements into smithereens. Obviously advance warnings will be issued to the settlers in the same humane way Israeli troops warn Palestinians prior to blowing the shit out of their homes, mosques and workplaces.
No, I'm not joking. A couple of well-placed GPS-guided GBU-39 smart rockets along with terminating the five billion dollars a year in military and foreign aid Uncle Sap provides these fuckers may finally get them to pay attention. It certainly will cast the U.S. in a more favorable light among 1.5 billion Arabs and Muslims, nearly 25 percent of the world's population, as opposed to continuing to appease the 13 million Jews in the world.
But there's plenty of moral righteousness for cover as well. During the period between 1967 and 2009, Iraq ignored nearly 80 UN resolutions, a point made repeatedly by the Bush administration as part of its case for war. By comparison, Israel, our closest "ally" in the Middle East, has been the target of over 150 resolutions, which it continues to ignore, condemning actions taken by Israel against the Palestinians and calling upon it to comply with basic principles embodied by the UN Charter.
One of the most important of those documents is General Assembly resolution 181 establishing the partition of Palestine and creating TWO independent states. The two-state idea is not some recent Israeli gesture of good will and paean to humanitarian decency which if Palestinians behave themselves to Israel's satisfaction it will grant. It was mandated in 1947 and reaffirmed no less than 70 times. Every settlement in the West Bank is an infraction of international law.
Whenever Jewish abuses of Palestinians are broached, you can count on the first thing out of the mouths of Israeli apologists being "they did it first!" Well that's clearly not the case this time. There were no suicide bombers, rocket attacks, kidnappings or car bombs* to which Israel regularly points to justify its continued barbaric treatment of Palestinians. There is no higher principle involved nor moral vindication here. This is just a flat-out larcenous land grab by a nation of people who care nothing for human decency, morality or the rule of law. Furthermore, they have to know this violation will kickoff new rounds of Palestinian violence which, of course, Israelis then will cite to "demonstrate Palestinians' refusal to negotiate in good faith" and get to murder hundreds more women, children and an occasional militant as "reprisals."
Israel is the only nation on earth that can get away with its despicable behavior year after year -- hell, decade after decade -- and not suffer the wrath of Washington. Can you imagine what the U.S. would do if the apartheid government in South Africa suppressed millions of "Coloreds" in squalid refugee camps like Israel has done to three million Palestinians since 1948? Or if Serbian, Nicaraguan or Cambodian assassination squads practiced the same tactics that are regularly employed by the Mossad? Or if Iraq invaded and occupied Kuwait like Israel did in Lebanon for 18 years? Oh wait, we did do something, just never in the case of Israel.
Basically Israelis just don't give a damn how they behave as long as they can rely on Western Holocaust guilt to rationalize any atrocity they wish to inflict and as long as their Uncle Sap remains hostage to the vastly disproportionate influence and political contributions of American Jews. They are no better than the Fascists who were running the furnaces.
No other country would be allowed to crassly appropriate territory, alter borders, subdue millions of refugees, flaunt UN resolutions and occupy an internationally designated open city without extreme American condemnation and repercussions. Israel is an aggressor nation no better than Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia, and it's time kick some Israeli ass!
*Just what the hell do you expect Palestinians to do to counter 60 years of oppression, suppression, the theft of their ancestral land, torture and murder? It's a bit hard to be reasonable when a thug has his jackboot on your throat. Palestinians don't have American supplied tanks, gunships and F-16s to give their actions the patina of civilized slaughter like Israel. Israeli's unconscionable disregard of non-Jewish human life and dignity along with its sophisticated war machine have killed and maimed tens of thousands more Palestinian civilians then all the crude bombs and rockets Palestinians have launched in return.
