Middle School: What Not to Be Scared Of

Julie Sims
HI, I am Julie and I am in 9th grade! I had a rough time dealing with all the older kids in high school. I know some of you have worries about joining up with the older kids. The hallways are crowded, the lunch room is crowded with older kids and the tables are full of them too. I want to assure you nothing is going to happen as long as you follow some simple rules.

My first day of middle school I was most worried about getting beat up by the school bully, so when my mom dropped me off that morning in our red Toyota Camary with my brother Tyler who was going into 11th grade. I walked up to the front door and yanked it open with my head held high. No one would mess with me if I knew what I was doing and if I didn't care what people thought. So, that day went by perfectly until 8th period. That's when I meet Emily. She was in my Science class and she bugged me because we sat right next to each other because the teacher thought I could use a hand on the Periodic Table. When class ended she met up with me in the hallway and told me that if I didn't pass Science she would beat me into pulp. So I was pretty scared and I didn't think she understood the express I need to run away because she just kept on talking to me like I was her best friend. When she was done talking there was an awkward silence for about 3 minutes. Then I stood up for myself and yelled, "You're not going to bully me I can do what I want without someone telling me what to do so just step off woman." She ran after me and you know what I did. That's when I realized to beat down the bully you have to be a bully back, so I stopped and made her fun into the wall. Then I broke down into bully mode, "You stop chasing after me or I will pound you into dirt don't you sass me leave me alone!" You know what she did, she left me alone and I never had to deal with her again and now she is scared of me. Ha who would ever think the bully would be scared of me.

Rule #1- To destroy the bully you have to be the bully back to them. (Just no violence use your words only)

Rule #2- When someone new comes to your school welcome them with passion and try to be their friend.

Rule #3- Always get to lunch on time don't be worried about where you can sit cause there will always be seats available.

Rule #4- Make sure if you don't get something a teacher is saying tell them and they will try to help by either keeping you after class or having you come down at the end of the day.( don't worry when you are kept after doesn't mean you're stupid just means you need extra help, everyone needs extra help once in their life time.)

Rule #5- And last but not least just have fun this maybe just school but you are with all your friends and that means a lot, so all I tell you is to have fun and enjoy middle school cause it only comes around once so take that chance.

You know now that I helped you it seems like less people are going to be worried about going into middle school. All you have to do is be yourself and don't whatever you do run away from your chance to be a kid. So go out there and be who you are without any scares or regrets. I leave you with just a little story of my life with a little help to yours so now if your friends are scared just lead them right to me don't worry there will be other helps in the future. See you for now!
