First-team All-American (2005)

Mike Jenkins may be the most NFL ready cornerback in the draft. He does not have the upside of Leodis McKelvin who will likely be the earlier taken cornerback, but his experience in a big time conference against big time football teams is something he has experienced that McKelvin has never and will likely show up in his first season in the NFL. He is the type of cornerback that looks ready right now to be a #2 corner or even a #1 corner on a team and be matched up with wide receivers of that caliber as soon as he is drafted. He doesn't have strength to push around receivers, but he has the speed to keep up with anyone teams may use him on.

Where will he go and why?

10. New Orleans Saints 7-9

This team ranked 30th in pass defense and their complete lack of a secondary is the biggest reason why. This team has been without capable corners for years and now, at this point in the draft, I think they have no option but to take one. Their second biggest need would be linebacker, but I think Keith Rivers would be too much of a stretch here. They should draft South Florida CB Mike Jenkins. He is an NFL ready cornerback that can contribute and help this team get back to the playoffs right away. He is the best cornerback option at this point in the draft after Leodis McKelvin so they should snatch Mike Jenkins up at this spot if they want to ever overcoming their weakness against the pass.
