Mike Minor
Height: 6-4
Weight: 205
Born: December 26, 1987
Draft: 2009 - 1st round (7th pick)
Position: Starting Pitcher
Player Profile:
Selected in the 1st round #7th overall in the 2009 draft, Minor exploded through the minors and made his major league debut in August 2010, just one year after being drafted out of college. While Minor's fastball consistently hits the 90-93 mph range, his best pitching trait is his ability to locate and command his pitches, as well as offering solid breaking stuff and a terrific changeup. On the intangible side, Minor is a polished college starting pitcher who has shown excellent mound presence and mental maturity.
Fantasy Baseball Analysis:
Mike Minor offers fantasy baseball teams the potential to be a solid overall starting pitcher who can make an impact across the stat board. With an ability to tally above average strikeout totals, as well as solid ERA and WHIP numbers, the wins should follow Minor in the stat column. Over 175 innings pitched, Minor has the ability to post 170 strikeouts, an ERA around or below 3.40, a WHIP around 1.15, and 10-14 wins. Pitching command and an excellent changeup are two of Minor's best pitching strengths, while the biggest concern for Minor in the majors is whether his low 90s fastball will be enough for him to keep major league hitters off balance enough to maintain his strikeout potential that he has shown during his time in the minors.

Dynasty Keeper League Outlook:
Mike Minor has been considered a likely top of the rotation starting pitcher since being taken #7 overall in the 2009 draft. Assuming Minor continues to develop as anticipated, he could easily become a #2 or #3 starting pitcher in nearly all fantasy baseball leagues by the start of the 2012 season. During the prime of his career, Minor could even become a #1 starting pitcher in fantasy baseball dynasty keeper leagues that have 20 teams.
Stat Projections:
Over the course of 175 inning pitched, Minor has the ability to post 170 strikeouts, an ERA around or below 3.40, a WHIP around 1.15, and 10-14 wins. During the prime of his career, Minor could easily become a workhorse type of starting pitcher who could tally 220 inning pitched per season to go along with stats in the range of 200 strikeouts, 16-18 wins, 3.00 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.
