Mike O'Malley Has No Intentions of Leaving 'Glee'

Despite landing the lead role in FOX's new pilot, "Family Album," Mike O'Malley assures gleeks that he has no intention of leaving "Glee." He plans on doing both shows (along with his recurring role on NBC's "Parenthood").

Mike O'Malley plans on continuing as a series regular on "Glee." According to TVLine, he is guaranteed six episodes next season.

"Glee's" favorite dad will appear in the next two episodes. And he tells us that there are some compelling scenes in store: "My upcoming scenes are with Kurt, and it's some really great stuff. It's the further stage of evolution of Burt needing to accept his son as who he is. They have some conversations Burt never thought he would have to have."

As for his new show, "Family Album," O'Malley will play Dave, a gung-ho ex-jock who returns from a family vacation a new man, inspired to "bond the crap out of his family" (as reported by TV Guide). Rachael Harris will play his stay-at-home wife.

After the success of "Raising Hope," FOX was motivated to give domestic comedy another try.

Mike is most famous for his starring role in the CBS sitcom "Yes Dear." Other television stints include a starring role in the short-lived WB sitcom "Life With Roger" and a recurring role on NBC's "My Name is Earl."

In 2010, O'Malley was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor (which he lost to Neil Patrick Harris). He also won the 2010 Teen Choice Award for Parental Unit.

Although Mike O'Malley is better-known as a comedic actor, he showed his true talents as a dramatic actor on "Glee." He has won fans across America for his role as Burt Hummel, a rugged blue-collar widowed father who is coming to terms with the fact that his son is gay.

O'Malley seems to have found a niche with those blue-collar roles, even in those Time Warner digital cable commercials. Yet what makes O'Malley so compelling as an actor is his ability to portray Burt as a complex character rather than a stereotype.

Hopefully Mike O'Malley's new show will give him a chance to use his talents to the fullest while allowing him to remain on "Glee."
