Milani Black Magic Collection: the Perfect Nail Polishes for Fall

Gwendolyn Taylor
Even though the summer season has not fully run its course, fall themed nail polish collections are popping up everywhere. Most of the colors we have seen that are fall trendy are the typical dark red, deep teals, and browns. Milani's Black Magic Collection breaks out from that norm.

Although this collection made its first appearance as a limited edition in 2009, it has been reissued in stores again for the fall season. The collection consists of six enticing shades: Whimsical (black base with royal purple glitter), Fairy Tale (black base with bright cobalt blue glitter), Enchantment (black base with indigo glitter), Spellbinding (black base with ruby red glitter), Magical (black base with orange bronze glitter), and Charmed (black base with metallic grey silver glitter). My favorites out of this lot are "Whimsical", "Fairy Tale", and "Magical" just because the colors these offer a bit different from the rest and from what you mostly see in other darker glitter themed nail polishes. "Charmed" is definitely the easiest in the bunch to find a dupe of and can be easily achieved by applying a base of solid black nail polish and top coating it with clear silver glitter nail polish.

Since these nail polish colors are dark, the application requires at least two costs. One coat will still show any visible streaks or nail line underneath. One thing to note, these will go on super dark, so if you aren't used to wearing darker nail polishes, you might want to mix and match the colors with brighter and spunkier colors to tone it down. Even these contain glitter, the resulting finish dries smooth to the touch. These colors work great with fall's darker color themed trends and with Halloween coming up, these colors will fit right in with an extra sparkle.

These are available at drugstores such as CVS and online beauty retailers. Although the Milani brand is sold in mass merchandise stores such as target, since these are limited editions, they most likely will only show up in few quantities on display stands on the ends of beauty aisles. Each bottle retails for about $4.50 to $4.99.
