I badly wanted to throw on a pair of sandals, but then I realized that I needed to give myself a pedicure ASAP. But the only nail polishes I had were dark fall and winter shades so I ran to the Walgreen's near my house to buy a cute summery orange nail polish.
I went to the Milani section because they usually have bright festive colors. I didn't really like the orange colored polishes but I wound up liking a red orange shade called Feisty Flames. Feisty Flames isn't a cool toned red like a cherry, it's a warmer red and reminds me of a bright tomato color. Since it is warm toned I knew it would flatter my golden brown skin and would be a wearable red for me.
When I tried the Milani polish on later that evening I found that I was right about the color flattering my complexion. It's the only red nail polish I've tried that really worked for me and Feisty Flames still looked as sexy as a cherry red color would, in fact it was hotter.
The Milani Nail Polish was easy to apply, it wasn't too thick or too thin, so I was able to coat my nails quickly and I could apply several coats without it looking messy or thick on my nail. But I was disappointed by the strong chemical smell that took a half hour to clear out of my room, and that it felt sticky as it dried. It attracted lint and the polish got imprints in it if my nails accidentally touched something even after a half hour passed.
Also my toenails looked shiny like a candy apple when I first polished them. But the next day I noticed that my nails looked dull and lackluster when they finally dried completely. The Milani Feisty Flames Nail Polish basically made my nails look like dull vinyl or plastic. It looked less sexy than it previously had, and much cheaper and tackier.
I had to apply a couple of more coats and my nails looked brighter temporarily but when those coats dried Feisty Flames fizzled out again and began to look dull. It wasn't until I polished them with two more coats the following day that they finally retained some shine. But I have to say my nails still didn't look thick or messy even after 6 or 7 coats of nail polish.
In the End...
I really liked the orange red color of Milani Feisty Flames but I hated the way it dried. I wouldn't buy it again because it's too cheap. I'd just find a red color like this from a more expensive nail polish. 3 out of 5 stars.
