Miley Cyrus Can't Be Tamed Video Too Sexy?

Allison West
With her new song Can't Be Tamed, Miley Cyrus has sure come a long way from her days as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel. A few days ago I was watching the VH1 Top 20 Countdown on VH1 Network and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the number one music video of the week chosen by viewers: Miley Cyrus in Can't Be Tamed. Can't Be Tamed shows a whole different side of Miley Cyrus that we haven't really seen before; is the Miley Cyrus music video for Can't Be Tamed too sexy?

Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus the Number One Video on VH1

I was quite taken aback when I first saw Miley Cyrus in Can't Be Tamed; however, viewers loved it, and they recently voted Can't Be Tamed the most popular music video of the week on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown. I'm not a huge Miley Cyrus fan, but I had a bit of trouble with what I witnessed in her Can't Be Tamed video.

Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus opens with Cyrus as a caged bird in a tight, skimpy black outfit, and then she spreads her wings. The tone of Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus is quite dark, and Cyrus sings of going through men like she goes through money, she can't be saved and she can't be blamed. Can't Be Tamed song and music video are probably supposed to be some sort of anthem for her liberation as a female, but I didn't see it that way. It sounds to me like Miley Cyrus is advocating promiscuity, irresponsibility and a lack of accountability as a message for today's modern young woman.

In my opinion, Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus, with images of Cyrus dancing in a sensual way (with both men and women), gyrating around in a suggestive outfit, being caged and then writhing around on the ground in a bustier as she lightly strokes the upper half of her body, is too mature for a minor like Miley. Miley Cyrus is still underage and her new video Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus crosses the line into territory occupied by sexy singers Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears.

Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus: a Shocking Disappointment

I recall hearing a recent song by Miley Cyrus, called The Climb, that so inspired me. In this song The Climb, Cyrus sang with a beauty and maturity beyond her years, seeking to inspire and uplift the listener to never give up on your dreams, despite the many obstacles and hurdles in life that might stand in the way of success, fulfillment and happiness. I believe The Climb was a high point for Miley Cyrus and displayed her voice to great advantage. There isn't much that's truly original about Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus, and Miley takes the low road with this music video, of cheap exploitation and sexy images instead of real substance.

Can't Be Tamed seems like a retread of all those other singers dancing and writhing around in barely there outfits and capitalizing on their sexuality for shock value. I don't expect Miley to just perform inspirational music for the rest of her life, but I was hoping her transition to adult performer would be a smoother, classier one. Is the Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus music video too sexy? Some would disagree, but in my opinion, Cyrus veers from sexy to sleazy in her new video, and I'd much rather see her pursue more a more entertaining, meaningful musical direction, like she demonstrated in her hit song The Climb.

while i do believe it is a little more provacative than her usual behaviour, you have to give credit that her outfits actually cover her body more than the three ladies you mentioned in your comparison. There was a lot of assumptions with her dancing but the difference between hers and the three ladies she was compared to, Miley Cyrus' sexually frustrated dancing was not actually shown explicitly, it was implied and hidden in the dark.

    Great article :D

I personally don't like it or her. I did when she was younger and my baby sisters liked her...she was unique then in her Hanna Montana days. Now she's like all the others.

A well considered and logical article. I saw this video and thought it was average-done before and a bit boring. It is all about market capture, not artistic presentation. The good thing for Miley is that she can do better and more inspirational work, so let's hope she veers that way instead of down the sleaze drain.

Miley needs to get some good advice before she becomes just another ExDisney bimbo!

Seems like you need to catch up to society. I remember people saying this song will flop, no one will buy nor listen to it yada yada yada....but it's number one on VH1, debuted at number eight on Billboard Hot 100, already a video game for RockBand, the album holding strong against Eminem and Drake, even beating Ozzy Obsbourne....which just goes to show, people are unpredictable, and are not easily categorized. I'm glad for Miley. Proved the haters wrong didn't she lol. Seems like she's getting the last laugh

I totally agree with your assessment. Sleazy isn't sensual - and why go for so much sensuality at 17 anyway! The song The Climb - amazing. It reminds me of when Madonna departed from her usual sex stuff to sing a hauntingly beautiful song in the Warren Beatty movie "Dick Tracy," and her role in "Evita." So much talent hidden under all that skimpy stuff!

I think she's actually 17! So I think this recent video is far too provocative and mature and the sexy themes are way beyond her years.

Hopefully she won't grow up to quick and then regret it, I don't actively follow her career, but didn't she just have a 16th birthday party at Disneyland?

    Miley Cyrus needs tranqualizers!
