Another Picture Scandal Involving Miley Cyrus -- and No, She's Not Naked
The girl is getting really good at ticking off people with her poses.
Miley Cyrus just cannot seem to keep herself from a picture scandal. If she's not being too suggestive for a teen and posting nearly naked pictures of herself on MySpace, she's having trouble with a too-tight dress being bounced off of her breasts (she was riding a horse) during a photo shoot for a video. Still, scandal and the camera lens were made for each other and her Vanity Fair photo shoot controversy proved it. But now she's in trouble for a picture where, although she is not naked, she seems to have offended a great many people.
The OCA (Organization of Chinese Americans) has issued a statement condemning the insensitive photo. George Wu, executive director of OCA, said in a statement to TMZ, "Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans."
Wu said that the inclusion of an Asian American in the picture did not make it acceptable. We finished by saying, "OCA hopes that Miley Cyrus will apologize to her fans and the APA community for this lapse in judgment and takes the opportunity to better understand why the gesture is offensive."
Miley Cyrus might not need to worry about offending people, since she was listed in Forbes magazine this past year in their annual list of 100 top celebrity moneymakers for 2008. Being stupid and insensitive is part of what it means to be a teenager, so she has built-in excuses. (She is only 16.) But, just to be on the safe side, an apology is probably in order, even if the photo was taken in the interest of clowning around.
Intentions do not count. Intentions pave roads to hell.
Not to mention, Miley Cyrus has a singing engagement at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards this week. She is singing a duet with the high flying co-host, Taylor Swift. She should get this little public relations glitch behind her as soon as possible.
And it probably goes without saying that the purchase of her new Honda Prius does not count toward an apology. Besides, it was bought for her by her father.

And for Miley, she is a kid and will do dumb things. All kids do it and she is the same. All the media and everyone else is going to do with all this non-sense is head her down the path of being another Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. Okay, I gotta weigh in here, because my husband is Asian. Yeah, it's offensive. Am I going to make a federal case about it? No. If she apologized, it wouldn't hurt. 'Nuff said.
She's a kid. I don't blame her, I blame the folks that are trying to get rich off from her success, and I wonder why her parents are more active in keeping her from being too suggestive.
She's still a child, so many people forget that point. She's going to have learn the hard way from all of this.
