Miley Cyrus is apologizing to to fans and admitting that she is embarrassed by the racy photo of her appearing in Vanity Fair's June Issue. The 15 year-old teen singing sensation who portrays the title role in Disney's hit show "Hannah Montana" believed the picture was going to be artistic. However, after seeing it in the magazine and reading the article her feelings have changed. The picture which was taken by legendary celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz shows Cyrus clutching a silk sheet to her chest and looking over her shoulder with her back exposed.

For its part Vanity Fair is defending the picture stating that Miley's parents and minders were on set all day. They even saw the photo after it was taken with a digital camera and voiced no objections.

Disney is speaking out on behalf of its star claiming that " a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."

This is not the first time Cyrus has found herself in hot water for steamy photos. Last week several pictures of her surfaced on various Internet sites one showing Cyrus pulling at her top to expose a bit of a lacy green bra and another of her laying across the lap of a young man. Cyrus admitted that the photos were "silly" and "inappropriate"

For her part, Cyrus is looking at this latest picture as part of a learning experience.

"I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone. Most of all, I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life's journey."
