Miley Cyrus Getting Sued for $4 BILLION!!!!

My eyes almost popped out of my head when I read that story in the news today! Evidently folks, there's a class action lawsuit being filed by Lucie J. Kim on behalf of all Asian Pacific Islanders living in Los Angeles County. In case you haven't heard, our great "hero" Miley posed, in a widely circulated photo on the Internet (not nude, this time!), using her fingers to "slant" her eyes which looks like she's mocking Asians. While she claimed that she was just making a goofy face, it was obviously not a just a goofy face. There was one Asian kid in the photo, by-the-way. The lawsuit is asking for a payment of $4 billion. That would take Miley about 133 years to pay off at a consistent $30 million per year earnings! But I don't think Miley is too worried about this going very far.

Miley apologized once, but that didn't seem to go over very well with the media and her fans, so she went to her fan club web site and posted the following: "I want to thank all of my fans for their support not only this week, but always! I really wanted to stress how sorry I am if the photo of me with my friends offended anyone. I have learned a valuable lesson from this and know that sometimes my actions can be unintentionally hurtful. I know everything is a part of GOD's ultimate plan, and mistakes happen so that eventually I will become the woman he aspires me to be. Peace and love, Miles"

The People magazine web site reported that "Margaret Cho the Korean comedian wrote a short song and posted it on her blog: "I am so upset by Miley Cyrus, I think it warrants a song," she wrote on her blog.

Among the song's lyrics: "All you have to do is pull at your face; To make your eyelids resemble our race; This kind of joke has no proper place; Miley Cyrus is a disgrace!" "

Miley sure has had her share of embarrassments and wrong choices: 1/2 nude photo shoots, risque photos on the Internet, drinking ketchup on a national talk show, and one of the latest is that allegedly she and 20 year old boyfriend Justin Gaston went out and decided to have a "sleepover" back at her house. And then there was the rumor in December 2008 that she was whining to her parents that she wanted her allowance upped to $1000 per week!

I have very conflicting feelings about Miley. I've written a few other Associated Content stories about her. I've been upset that a 16 year old (who just got her learner's permit to drive a car) earned more in 2008 than I'll ever earn in total for my entire life of very hard work. But I have to say that despite her poor choices and the bad press that she's gotten, this lawsuit seems to be a joke and an attempt to cash in on the star's popularity and pocketbook. Were any of the other kids in the photo being sued?

While I believe the lawsuit is totally frivolous, MIley DOES need to understand that as a public figure and star she is a role model to millions of young girls. She is old enough now to understand that virtually everything she does no matter where it's done or how private she wants it to be is going to be found out and examined under a microscope and reported worldwide.

On the other hand, I guess as parents we see our children very often make wrong choices and take the consequences. Fortunately for most of us, our children aren't under an international spotlight everytime they make a mistake. And we also hope our kids learn from their mistakes. Hopefully, Miley learns from the wrong choices she makes. And we all hope she doesn't end up like Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears.
