Miley Cyrus is Mean-Spirited?

Ryan Mooney
If Miley Cyrus wants to keep raking in the cash, maybe she should stay away from the camera. Well, maybe just her personal cameras (keep on selling that Hannah Montana while America craves it). Over that past couple of months, the seemingly sweet and innocent teen star has been involved in a variety of scandals (risky photos stolen from her cell phone, an adult shoot for Vanity Fair, etc). Her most recent 'caught on camera' (via YouTube) shows an entirely new side of the Disney tween star: a jealous and mean-spirited little girl.

The YouTube video shows Miley Cyrus and her non-famous friend mocking another up-and-coming Disney star, Selena Gomez. Us magazine reveals the following:

" In a new YouTube video, Miley and her BFF Mandy mock Selena Gomez and her pal Demi Lovato.
Miley, 15, makes fun of a T-shirt Gomez, 16, wore and teases Demi, 15, about a gap she used to have in her teeth.

The clip surfaces the same week that sources tell Usmagazine.com that Selena is dating Miley's ex Nick Jonas (a rep for the Jonas Brothers insists they're just friends)."

Sure all teens a capable of a little jealousy now and then, but to attack the physical features of another peer comes off as tactless and just plain cruel. When there's have so much riding on the line (a hugely successful career with Disney), a little discretion couldn't hurt now and then. It might be a good time to get your emotions in check. Is it really necessary to publicly mock an actress (who's level of fame does not compare to Cyrus') when no 'stones' have been slung? In the video, Cyrus comes off as the mean girl that you wouldn't want your daughter to spend time. You would be able to predict that your little one is going to shed more than one tear over a hurtful remark from her 'friend'.

Look at the mean-spirited assault from a different perspective. Millions and little girls idolize (for better or worse) Cyrus. They gobble-up everything Hannah Montana. You know that half of her fans will wind up watching this video on YouTube. And what message does that convey, that it is acceptable to mock others in public for something they cannot help (such as a physical feature)?

I understand that kids will be kids and sometimes cruel, but at least one adult in Cyrus' life needs to step in teach the girl a thing or two about how to handle a personal conflict on both a professional and personal level. Sorry Cyrus, your attempt to put down another has only shown your own level of immaturity and room to grow.
