Miley Cyrus' Vanity Fair Photos Cause Ruckus; Apology Issued

Rosa Hayes
The photos of Miley Cyrus have created a ruckus and many parents have become furious at the actions of this Disney's stars behavior. Miley Cyrus appeared topless in a photo shoot taken for the Vanity Fair. She later released a statement apologizing to her fans and their families saying that it was supposed to be artistic, but she later realized that it was more of an embarrassment. The Hannah Montana star also apologized for the photos that had been circulating on the internet saying that they were silly, as reported by MTV.

My daughters have become big fans of the Hannah Montana star and being a parent means that I must keep a close eye on the things that they see and what they hear. I have to admit that we can't always be there with them every waking hour of the day especially with the internet being very popular amongst kids.

I have mixed emotions when it comes to Miley Cyrus and what she has let out into the open. I have a few problems with the way she has carried herself lately but the media also has a very good way of making a small thing out to be a huge thing.

The racy photos could have been a major mistake for Miley Cyrus but there are a lot of children idols who are now doing this. This does not make it right but if you are going to take away the star of Hannah Montana out of your child's life, then you would have to take out nearly every idol that they have ever had. Even the Olsen twins started misbehaving badly does that mean that you should let them watch re-runs of Full House? I don't see any harm in letting them watch these shows because it is not showing what these stars do on their own time.

Kids make mistakes and they will often do it over and over again. The job of the parents is to help them learn from their mistakes. I use Miley Cyrus as a learning tool for my children. I told them that they would probably be hearing a lot of things about the famous Hannah Montana star and that it is their right to think whatever they want about the way she has acted. I know that Miley Cyrus probably shouldn't have taken those photos but where were her parents during all of this?

Teaching children the difference between fact and fiction is also a crucial part in letting them view shows like Hannah Montana. I have told my children that just because they idolize the child that they see on the television doesn't mean that they should idolize who she is in real life. Teaching them fact from fiction is very important if you are going to let your children continue to view Hannah Montana.

Monitoring their time is also important, you don't want them to see their favorite stars being trashed talked by other children on the internet? Children learn from what they hear and if they often hear their parents talking bad about someone, chances are that they will do the same at some point. Monitoring your child will keep them out of a heated debate on something that Miley Cyrus did and it will lower their chances of seeing some of the racy photos.

Peer pressure isn't just in the regular lifestyle it is also in the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Peer pressure is bound to happen to every child at some point or another. I have to admit that some of the things that I did as a child had later came back to haunt me. The difference between our kids and the kids of Hollywood is that their life is being portrayed in front of everyone. I believe that they should be more careful because of this but kids are still going to make mistakes.

Miley Cyrus shouldn't have done the photo shoot where she was topless just to be artistic but her parents should have been more careful with what they let their daughter do. Miley Cyrus needs to be a better role model but she also needs someone to be a parent and guide her into this.

I agree. Where the heck were her parents. i don't have any children so I have never watched an episode of Hannah Montana so I don't see what all the hoopla is about. She is 14 for goodness sakes and her face is everywhere. I wonder how she will feel about having been a huge sensation when she is 40?
