Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair Pictures

Not a Girl, Not yet a Woman

15-year-old Miley Cyrus is the star of the popular Disney Channel show "Hannah Montana", but recently she has been in the media for other reasons. The most recent of these "incidents" is Cyrus' Vanity Fair photo shoot. In the magazine Cyrus poses topless while being wrapped in a silky sheet. The only naked skin that is visible is the teen's back. Cyrus commented on the shoot saying, "I think it's really artsy, it wasn't in a skanky way." Miley was absolutely right. If you really look at the picture the way it was intended, as a work of art, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. You can tell that the picture was meant to be artsy because of the "raw" quality it has to it. Cyrus is wearing very little makeup, her hair is messy and wet, and there is little color. These qualities suggest the artistic aspect of this photograph.

People in the media need to relax and stop attempting to bring down young stars. Miley could be setting a worse example. She could be pregnant (like Jamie Lynne), she could have full nude photos out (like Vanessa Hudgens), or she could be into drugs and alcohol (like Lindsay Lohan). Teenage girls have enough pressure when they aren't famous, and young stars like Miley don't need the media criticizing them and adding more stress to their life.

Miley Cyrus is simply a young girl who is growing up in the spotlight. She is a great role model for teenage girls because of the fact that she is shown in a positive light more that 99% of the time. She understands the importance of family and she takes responsibility for her actions (good and bad). Miley realizes that girls look up to her and she takes great pride in that responsibility. Any young girl who calls Miley Cyrus her role model is a lucky girl.
