What looks like a woman, sounds like a woman and acts like a woman? Miley Cyrus is a woman now whether we like it or not. Although technically she is still under eighteen years old and therefore legally a child, she has grown up into a beautiful and sexy woman that no one can deny.
She rose to stardom as Hannah Montana, the pretend television sitcom about a young rock star. She has been a teen idol to girls seven to twelve, and their parents wish she would stay that way. But, we can't stop her from growing up no matter how much we want it.
She has grown up and may be now she wants to appeal to an older audience. Anyone that does not believe that Miley Cyrus is a woman now, should see her latest video. She gyrates on a bed without pants on, caresses herself and dances with older men.
If parents are unhappy with the video, they do not need to allow their children to watch it. But, they have no right to be mad or disappointed at Miley Cyrus. She is grown up now and she wants to continue her success. She cannot be a teen idol forever because she will not be a teen forever. It had to happen some time.
May be she should have ridden the wave of teen idol a little longer, but it is hard to tell whether it was the right decision or not right now. Will young adults and older adults fall for the Miley Cyrus they see now? Only time will tell. Her style of music may not yet appeal to older adults.
Many parents and critics have compared Miley to Britney Spears which is not a fair comparison. Although, Britney also had to grow up, she also partied hard and began demonstrating bad and destructive behavior as her young fans watched. Miley Cyrus has done a few things that have made her fan base uncomfortable, but nothing like the things that Britney has done. Britney deserves a break too.
Our society should be celebrating her coming of age instead of thrashing her because Miley Cyrus is a woman now and no one can change that fact.

Post a CommentTaryn, What qualifies you as a woman is becoming a woman. Clothing has nothing to do with it. No one can stop Miley from turning into a woman and that is what has happened right before our eyes. The fact that she looks sexy is just a bonus from God, even if she was ugly, she would still be a woman.
So is that all it takes to qualify as growing into a "woman"? To just start wearing skimpy clothes and acting as sexually suggestive as possible? Wow, that doesn't say much for womanhood.
