Miley Cyrus's Controversy Vanity Fair Spread

Will She Be Cut Off with Disney?

Erika Gilliam-Long
Miley Cyrus is one of the leading names for Disney, now she might not even have a show. Her recent photo shoot with photographer Annie Leibovitz has given her a whole new light. Disney executives have questioned the appropriateness of the photos. While they were explained to be artistic and simple, many people are still thinking otherwise. Rumors are starting to spread now that Disney is looking for a new face to front them, and have been for quite some time now.

Her new photos can be seen in the new issue of Vanity Fair. She says now that she feels embarrassed about the photos as she did not want her fans to think badly of her. She says that they were just meant to be artistic and tasteful. Apparently her father has no issue with them because he was at the photo shoot. Her mother and younger sister were also in attendance for the photo shoot.

When looking at the published pictures in Vanity Fair, they look like she is sitting down with nothing on and only her top is covered, just in the front. But now Vanity Fair has released a behind the scenes on their web page that shows more photos so that people might understand. The photographer has even released a statement saying that she was very sorry that her portrait of Miley was misinterpreted. Annie stated that they had sat down and looked at other photos before the shoot and even went as far as discussing the context of the shoot.

But this is not stopping parents and fans from questioning the real meaning behind the photos. Many parents are taking the stance that there is no need for someone at her age of only 15 to be taking photos of that nature.

But fans and parents alike are being asked to remember that she is not only a celebrity on Disney's show Hannah Montana, she is a rising pop star of her own. Her record sales have been rising since she put out her album. There has been a statement that they were released as being Miley, not Hannah and that this should not affect her on Disney's show. Disney executives are thinking otherwise.

Now it is left in question as what will happen to Miley. Will Disney decide to fire her as their front page princess or will this photo shoot turn around for Miley and take her to even higher fame? Only time will tell.

This is normal today. Disney has fallen a great deal from the Walt Disney days!

I personally think that all the controversy is a little silly. I hardly find seeing the back of a fifteen year old girl all that big of a deal (a bikini top nearly shows an entire back and a whole lot upfront). If it is the concept that Cyrus was topless beneath the blanket that is bothering so many people I still think that there are far worst things to fuss about. Good article.
