MILEY CYRUS'S PHOTO SHOOT with VANITY FAIR

I'm not a big Miley Cyrus fan, but my Granddaughter could probably tell me about every single Hannah Montana episode ever shown on T.V. She loves Miley, and her Mom and Dad are just fine with that. But the latest "role model" for children is now in the middle of a big media controversy, and I think this is a sad day for all of us.

In case you've been under a rock, and didn't know this, Miley posed for some photos, with her Dad, Billy Ray, for Vanity Fair magazine. Publicity is always a good thing, right Dad? Turns out, that Dad had to leave the shoot a little early, due to a prior commitment, (now how did he get one of those?). After he gets his photos taken with his daughter Miley, he leaves. A very well known photographer, Annie Leibovitz, comes up with an idea for Miley to shoot a few more photos, so they do. No harm, no foul, right? Wrong.

One of the photos shows Miley in a pose, covered appropriately with a satin sheet, looking over her shoulder, and displaying her naked back. Oh no, the whole world can now see that this 15 year old girl has a back! Stop the presses people, this just in! Miley Cyrus is not really just a cardboard cutout, she has a back! Get all of your children together, explain to them that Miley is no longer a "role model," because she has a back, and we can all see it on display.

Dad, by the way, issues a statement that if he had known about the photo, he would of stopped it from being published. It's Okay that his photo in a sleeveless shirt, with his daughter lying with her head on his leg is published, but heaven forbid if she steals the spotlight, and makes her own decision to look a little more grown up. Come on Dad, who's career is it?

Miley Cyrus is a fifteen year ole girl, in the public spotlight, who decided to let her hair down a little, and she is getting bashed all over the world. Why? She felt obligated to apologize to her fans, and says she now regrets the photos. Heaven forbid, a girl who is making millions of dollars for her promoters, makes a decision on her own. The nerve of that girl.

Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana will survive all of this. She'll keep singing and dancing, making movies, and performing at concerts. I hope that sometime in the next ten years, she is "allowed" to make another decision. This time let's hope she doesn't go swimming, at a beach, and wears a bathing suit. What would the world do if they found out that she has arms and legs too?
