Million Orphans of Malawi

Kimberly Moore
Could you know everything that was happening in the world? If I were to say "Malawi," does it ring a bell? Did you know that a great majority of children don't have the luxury to be loved by parents? It's one of the needs these 1,000,000 orphans are suffering without.

Malawi is the warm heart of Africa. The population has a total of 12,000,000 people. Many of these children have lost their parents to Aids and are forced to grow-up and take care of themselves and their brothers and sisters all alone. There aren't enough orphanages to supply shelter, food and medicines; most are without a home and the common necessities to survive, but we live in a country where we always have plenty. The children might only eat once a day. It takes one dollar a day to feed sixty-six percent of children.

Parents affected by Aids can be passed to their babies. ARV is a treatment to prolong life by the disease and is cheap to buy. The orphan is infected and there is no money to buy the medicine. They die without having a chance and their siblings are left crying for hope.Malawi has a vicious cycle of poverty and disease is the main cause. Please help the children! I am, but we are is the meaning it affects all of us.

A mother mourns when her baby dies, and a man from a village comes in the night and sleeps with her three times even if she doesn't want to. Their ancestors started this trend. The end result is that death dealers prey on, victimize and impregnate the women and then they end up carrying more than a baby.

The innocent are being raped and the disease spreads even further. Many situations can cause this outbreak such as homelessness. People who are not shown any kind of love or affection. There's no guidance or protection from diseases. There's no education and no money for medication. There isn't any crops that leads to a starving nation. These people live in fear and lack the connection to the world of promise. They wait to die because their dreams won't be fulfilled for a brighter tomorrow.

We can give the children hope and the opportunity's to live in happiness. We have these opportunities. Why can't they? We can support and change the future for these precious children. We have the power to make a difference in their lives.

I do understand about the world's economy. I would myself like to help more, but like many others we may not have the funds to help. This article is for awareness and if possible helping the orphans.

Thank you for your time!
