Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker is one of reality TV's guilty pleasures. Cupid Extraordinaire, Patti Stanger prides herself on showing desperate singles what they're doing wrong while connecting them with people who might make potentially great life partners. Although the ladies on the show sometimes get a crash course on how to attract and maintain a man's attention, it's the millionaire men who often benefit from Patti's sage advice. Here are a few common mistakes that the guys tend to make. Ironically, these blunders are popular amongst the world's "Average Joes"…
Men will always push the envelope with their attractive dates, as is evidenced by the gentlemen on "Millionaire Matchmaker." Patti advises, no sex before monogamy. Even though the couples are bound by this rule (for the most part), some of them take liberties. They attempt to entertain the women with activities that show off their bodies. They ask sexually related questions. Or they do other things that make the women uncomfortable on the first date. Huge no-no.
Texting vs. Phoning
In one recent episode, one of the single millionaires requested a second date from his lady friend. The problem is that he sent her a text instead of picking up the phone to call her. Patti frowns on this impersonal exchange. Her motto? When asking a woman out, pick up the phone; it's just simple etiquette. Unfortunately, this is a common mistake that many men make regardless of how much money they have in their wallets.
Testing Women
It's understandable that these millionaires are desperate to keep their hard-earned millions. They're not looking for gold diggers. (Go figure?) But as a result, they make the mistake of "testing" the women they date. Ladies don't want feel as if they have to meet a bunch of challenges in order to get to date number two. Attempting to determine their pedigree, intelligence, or political views are things that should never occur on the first date.
Another big mistake that these single guys make is not being romantic enough. Complimenting the women, bringing them flowers, and doing other little things that show they're interested are all things that Patti encourages her millionaires to do. The problem is that some men just don't get it. Although you can make pretty much any situation romantic, a woman won't really know that you're interested unless the activity encourages both parties to get to know each other more intimately.
Me, Me, Me
Being completely self-absorbed is a problem that a lot of singles have regardless of gender. But on "Millionaire Matchmaker", it seems that these men are so involved in their business ventures that they fail to ask the women about their hobbies and interests. But a good date should include a balanced exchange of information. Just because you're a millionaire doesn't mean that you shouldn't take an interest in the lives of people who aren't. The fastest way to turn off woman is to make the date all about you.
