Milwaukee's Scott Dangerfield is J.Lo's Lipstick-smeared "American Idol" Favorite
Young Scott Dangerfield Picks Up Three Golden Tickets, but Can He Get Any Respect from American Idol?
"You know, I'm color blind, and unless you borrowed my lipstick - is that your real lips?" quipped Aerosmith frontman and "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler.
Wiping his mouth, Scott Dangerfield replied, "I was kissing one of the girls backstage. Did it rub off? I'm sorry."
"Love in the 'Idol' line," Randy Jackson added.
"More than one destiny is gonna be made for me today," Scott Dangerfield answered, without missing a beat.
At this point, Steven Tyler broke into song with his own remix of the late rocker Janis Joplin's "Take Another Little Bit of My Heart." He sang, "C'mon, take another little bit of my lipstick, baby."
Then Scott Dangerfield's real "American Idol" audition began.
Wearing a rumpled striped shirt and baggy shorts and sporting sneakers with white anklets, the bespectacled Wisconsin lad sang "Dreamin'" (by 33-year-old Philadelphia folk-rocker Amos Lee) while Jennifer Lopez fairly swooned behind the judges' table. Scott Dangerfield seemed to hold a monopoly on hot geekdom, as far as J.Lo was concerned.
"You might be my favorite I've seen so far," Jennifer Lopez gushed, after Scott Dangerfield stunned the "American Idol" judges with his ranging riffs.
"You blew me away, dude," Randy Jackson chimed in.
"I wanna vote! I wanna vote," J.Lo chanted, bouncing in her "American Idol" chair and evoking odd Paula Abdul memories from seasons past. "Hollywood! Hollywood," she hollered.
The trio of judges offered unanimous yes votes, sealed with Randy Jackson's bubbling-over endorsement. "A hundred million percent yes," the former Journey guitarist said. "You know what I'm loving? This is the unassuming season. Never judge a book by its cover. Dude, you were hot!"
"Keep the hair. Keep the glasses. I like all of it," Jennifer Lopez said, "OK, we'll see you in Hollywood."
"We've been waiting all day for you," Steven Tyler chirped, as Scott Dangerfield, the shaggy student teacher from Milwaukee, headed for the exit to pick up his "American Idol" golden ticket to Hollywood.
Meeting his crew in the hallway, along with "American Idol" emcee Ryan Seacrest, Scott Dangerfield said, "Jennifer Lopez said I was her favorite singer."
Will "American Idol" audiences feel the same way about Milwaukee's Scott Dangerfield?
Who is Scott Dangerfield?
Scott Dangerfield is a Milwaukee-based pop singer. Currently unsigned, he sings with a Wisconsin alternative rock band called Hillcrest Road (according to his own MySpace page). Hillcrest Road has produced a single album, titled "Life After Liftoff," and released in 2007. The band's latest single is called "20th Century Disaster."
So far, no one seems to know who "American Idol" contestant Scott Dangerfield was kissing backstage in Milwaukee during the audition lineups.

Love him!
Will definitely be voting for him. ; )
I mean, seriously, he's got the charm, creativity and spunk!
And he's wicked cute!
Great recap baby! love it!
I watched Steven Tyler on Thursday night say he knew they had found the one when they sent a fifteen year old girl through. I think they should keep that kind of commentary to themselves, almost anything can happen. Thirty seconds of someone singing something doesn't necessarily equate to them singing for three minutes for the next 20 weeks. Plus I think it skews the competition. I'd like them to be more like Paula who would write down her thought before the actual competition started, date it and put it away until the end. I think that's kind of a cool thing but not sayint it outloud.
I watched the first show this year, and it was too painful to continue.
I don't watch idol anymore, update is appreciated!
Nice correction Tom! Scott has always been the best singer I have ever known.
Hillcrest Road actually released two albums, "Life After Liftoff" in 2007 and "The Definition EP" in 2009. Scott and others in the band also worked together and released a side project album in 2008 under Scott's full name.
Great recap!
Hmmmmmmmmm.
