Mini Eco-i-Lite Multifunction Power Failure Light

Great for Hurricane Season in Florida

Susan Slade

We were walking around Office Depot about a month ago, and I noticed the Mini Eco-i-Lite Multifunction Power Failure Light on the shelf. As it was coming up for hurricane season, here in Florida, I liked the idea of having a light that lasts for 7+ hours after it is charged up. The price was $9.99 + sales tax.

We brought it home, and then read the instructions. It was to be charged initially for 24 hours. Len put it in his bathroom to charge up. This should be done with the light either on auto, or on. The base goes into the socket and then the light sits in the open circle.

The reason why we put it in Len's bathroom, is that my bathroom is en-suite, so I can see to go into it during the night. Len has to walk through the hallway to his bathroom. This multifunction light automatically comes on as a nightlight.

That is great but I wanted it for power outages. It states on the packaging that it has a 'New technology induction charging base'. It has LED bulbs which save energy and money too. If plugged in it will always be charged and ready.

It is a 3 LED hand held light, and has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

I wanted this Eco-i-Lite Multifunction Power Failure Light, because it will work if there are blizzards, floods, hurricanes, ice storms, thunderstorms, tornadoes, black outs, or brown outs.

So once it is fully charged it should be kept switched to AUTO, this way when it gets dark, the nightlight will come on. Also is the power goes out it will come on as the super bright 3 LED light.

On the side of the Eco-i-Lite are the switches. These also work with the 3 LED light. These 3 bulbs are white light, and really bright. We haven't had a power outage since buying it, but I know that it will be better than our flashlights, and safer then candles.

I plan on getting another one for downstairs, as we live in a townhouse.

Here is some more information from the website:

This comes with a 1 year limited warranty.

Len has been really pleased with the nightlight function. It turns itself on during the evening, and is off when we get up in the morning, saving energy, and money. I am not looking forward to storms, or hurricanes, but this is one more item I have, to help us get through them.

Great planning! Better to be safe than sorry. I appreciate the info - not for hurricanes where I live, but for tornado preparedness. Thanks for sharing what you have learned! rcj
