Mini Lop Rabbits or Holland Lop Rabbits: Floppy Eared Rabbits

Elisia Yun
The Mini Lop Rabbit is also known as the Holland Lop Rabbit, and is quite the popular pet found in pet stores. They are best known and loved for their floppy, droopy ears. Mini Lop Rabbits are best known for their adorable nature although they sometimes have a behavior that is less friendly and gentle than some of their cousins. It is definitely hard to resist their face when walking into a pet store, and they still make wonderful pets! Because of their adorable appearance, they are also commonly shown at shows.

Mini Lop Rabbits can be said to be both temperamental and gentle depending on different people, but differences in behavior and nature are found in every specie and breed of pets. Some claim that Mini Lop Rabbits are the gentlest pet one could ever have, and would definitely be one of the cuddliest to have around as well; however, others find that the Mini Lop Rabbit is rather temperamental, and would require quite some time together in order to grow such a relationship. One thing to consider about the Mini Lop Rabbit is the fact that while they are rather small (generally growing to around 3 pounds), they really love to move around and exercise; thus, they will needs lots of room.

The most distinguishable feature about the Mini Lop Rabbit is their bright eyes, and nice floppy ears. Their eyes are much like a baby, and should be rather large in comparison to other rabbits, and should not be too close together. The inner part of their ear should not show especially when they are at rest.

These rabbits are most noticeable for their adorable, baby-like appearance. Their bodies should be round and compact, and they should look rather strong as well. It is important for them to have shiny, healthy-looking coats which are dense. Also their feet should not have bare pads. Their ears should not be carried poorly (as it is considered one of the major faults in the rabbit), and the crown, which is the area between the bunny's ear, needs to be at a nice shape. These are some of the most important standards of expectations for the Mini Lop Rabbits at shows; however, even if they do not meet these standards, they are still really adorable pets to have, and can make quite the companion!

One of the most loved aspects about the Mini Lop Rabbit is their ability to breed to create various versions. The Mini Lop Rabbits is thus a loved breed for breeders and pet keepers alike.

Someone really should do better research on this stuff before you put it on the internet. The American Rabbit Breeders' Association publishes a standard book on every rabbit breed. Holland Lops and Mini Lops are two completely seperate breeds. There is a significant difference in the build and size of these rabbits. Not to metion how they are posed.

Actually, Holland Lops and Mini Lops are two different breeds. Mini Lops are much larger and have a different head and body type than the Holland Lop. Holland Lops are compact and sturdy, while a Mini Lop has a larger head lean head. Holland's will have a more "smashed up" face than a Mini Lop.
