The next part of the menstruation cycle is when the egg starts its journey down the fallopian tube in order for it to reach the uterus. Hormones within the woman's body begin to change, in order to accumulate a fertilized egg. If the egg does not become fertilized however, the egg can be absorbed by the woman's body or it can dissolve. In the event pregnancy is not an outcome, the hormone levels again will try to go back to normal. This in a way instigates the body into shedding the thick lining of the uterine wall, which is done when the woman is menstruating. Sometimes, women feel an amount of discomfort or cramping at this time.
Chances are that if you are experiencing symptoms that consist of cramping, fatigue and irritability you are probably going thru your menstruation cycle. The symptoms that you are experiencing are normal for many women. They are in a way a side effect to the levels of hormone that your body is producing and the changes that are going on in your reproductive system.
The hormone level increase and decrease that is going on in your body can cause your face to break out, difference in appetite, and fatigue. These are common symptoms as well. Many women and young ladies alike have breakouts and issues with their appetites during their time of menstruation.
In fact it is not necessary for a female to even have started her period yet to begin experiencing these common symptoms. Does that mean she can not be going through pre menstrual syndrome? Of course not, these can be experienced prior to your actual period. As your body is still preparing for its own maturity, hormones are being elevated and minimized within the body.
If you are experiencing heavier than usual blood flow during your period, this could be a sign of some other serious issue and you should tell your doctor. After you have used tampons, if you have any discomfort you should tell your doctor. There might be a serious problem. If your period is generally on schedule and you are no longer able to determine when your period is coming because it is random and comes more than once a month it is vital that you notify your doctor or other health care professional. If you are 16 and still have not started your period consult your physician. Anything in your mind that just doesn't seem right is a good excuse for you to talk to your doctor. There may be an easy solution or medication that can be prescribed for you.
Drinking plenty of caffeine free drinks can help in the prevention of some of the symptoms that you might experience in connection to your menstruation. If you drink caffeine it is possible that your body will retain fluid and you will have bloating. Keeping up with a healthy diet that consists of vitamins, proteins and fruits and veggies can also help in subsiding some of the symptoms.
There are over the counter medicines that are readily available for purchase to ease some of the symptoms that you have. If you have a back ache or head ache try something like Advil or Aleve. Be sure your doctor knows that you are seeking an over the counter medication for your symptoms. He or she might be able to point you in the right direction for relief.
There are also several PMS multi symptom over the counter medications that are also available to help you ease some of the discomfort. Again discuss the options with your doctor prior to taking anything. Especially if you are taking any other medications. There is a possibility that if you mix some medicines you can end up severely ill.
If your period is irregular your doctor might suggest prescribing you a birth control pill. By doing this your body should regulate and your periods will become more on schedule instead of as a surprise sometimes. If your flow is extremely heavy your doctor may again want to put you on a birth control pill. This is a very effective way to cut down the severity of your flow.
Depending on your particular flow, there are several different types of feminine hygiene products that you could use. For instance, if you are an extreme light flow type of person, you could use a light days panty liner, maxi pad, or tampon. Be sure if you use a tampon you are using one that coincides with your flow. If you are in a light flow NEVER use a super absorbent tampon. This can cause a rare condition known as TSS (toxic shock syndrome). The same types of feminine hygiene products are available for all of the different flow types.
When using a tampon, you will also want to be sure you insert it properly, as it is directed on the package and change it at a minimum of every 4-6 hours. This will also assist in keeping you healthy by not getting TSS. If you have found a particular product that is comfortable for you to use, then you should stay with it.
If you have severely sensitive skin, you might want to discuss with your doctor if it will be safe for you to use a scented maxi pad during you visit form you monthly friend. Every single time you go to the bathroom you have to change your maxi pad, if that is the type of product that you have chosen to use. This will keep you cleaner, and keep bacteria from being transported into your body. If you do not generally use the bathroom on a regular basis throughout the day, you may want to make sure you visit such facilities on a regular basis. Depending on your flow you might have to go to the rest room on an hourly basis, but usually changing your tampon every two to three hours or so should be fine. Again this will depend on the heaviness of your flow.
After you have changed your tampon, pad, or panty liner, you should wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. This keeps the spreading of germs down, and well, it is good hygiene practices as well.
Once a woman has begun her period, if she is sexually active she is now able to become pregnant. This is the time when it is necessary to begin using a contraceptive to avoid an unplanned pregnancy. Frequently a birth control pill is prescribed to regulate the woman's period as well as prevent pregnancy. The pill is not 100% effective and should never be used as the only means of protection against pregnancy. Also the birth control pill will not prevent sexually transmitted diseases, also known as S.T.D.'s.
If your period is pretty regular, you should be able to determine the estimated time it will be coming. Try to drink plenty of water and other caffeine free drinks. This has proven to be very effective in the minimizing of discomforts related to menstruating. In addition to the liquids, more fruits and vegetables in your diet can also help with the discomfort becoming a little less bothersome.
In addition to changing your eating habits you may want to talk to your doctor about placing you on a birth control pill if the period is not regular or if you have an extremely heavy flow.. This can help your symptoms quite a bit. If you are currently on a birth control pill, discuss with your medical physician the possibility of switching your prescription to something else. This may prove to be very effective in minimizing your symptoms.
Exercising on a daily basis can be an excellent way to eliminate your fatigue and other symptoms. The exercise does not have to be a rigorous one, something simple like taking a walk after you eat, or bringing your dog or children to the park for a little while. Anything that can effectively get your blood pumping should work. By stimulating your body on a regular basis you are able to control the symptoms and possibly make them minimal if at all.
For some of the other symptoms that you may be finding very bothersome, you might want to talk to your local pharmacist and see what would be recommend for you to take. Be sure to fill the pharmacist in on the medications that you are already taking. Just to be safe. Some medications can not be combined with one another.
Sometimes for those more defined cramps, you might want to try using a heating pad for a little while and then getting up and walking around. Keep repeating this. Generally this works for some of the more intense cramping that can be experienced.
Learning how to deal with your symptoms will be a task. You need to know what things you are doing that can be causing such symptoms. Start with a slight change in your food intake and then try to be a little more active, consult your doctor and determine the best regimen for your particular symptoms. If the periods that you experience are very bothersome and cause you to miss time at work or school on a regular basis, immediately notify your doctor. There could possibly be a more serious underlying condition that neither of you are aware of. Sometimes it can be a simple fix, that you have not yet tried and other times it may need a more severe approach. None the less, if you feel things are not functioning the right way, immediately notify your doctor.
Some minor testing may be required by your doctor prior to a reason for your symptoms can be put at ease. Treatment may be simply changing the dosage of your birth control pill, or changing your contraceptive all together.
