There was an atmosphere of excitement in the Minneapolis Convention Center. Several groups of people stood ready for the adventure of entering the big show. This was my first time attending the event. I had heard so many good things about it. There was no other spring event in the state of Minnesota that offered as many fantastic ideas on home and garden designs as the Minneapolis Home and Garden Show. The show has been in existence for 25 years and is the one of the most anticipated annual spring affairs in Minnesota. The event started with a welcoming address from Minneapolis Mayer R. F. Rybak and proceeded with a ribbon cutting ceremony. "This week is declared Home and Garden week", declared Minneapolis Mayer, who was surrounded by other elated sponsors of the event.

The Home and Garden Show provides Minneapolis residents with a little more than an inspiration of ideas for homes and gardens. There were several fascinating sideshows on display along the walls. People strolled about with large yellow bags, shopping for little items such as eco-friendly glass cleaners and kitchen cookware. There was nothing displayed that did not entertain the interest of the observers. Excellent oil painters and digital photographers displayed gorgeous portraits of children and families. Large family portraits give life and personality to home interiors.

In addition to the little side shows, many great elegant home and garden exhibits embellished the Isles of the Minneapolis Convention Center. Every aspect of home remodeling and enhancement were available. Great looking Amish furniture captivated the attention of those who passed through the halls. Beautiful cabinets, tables, and chairs entertained the imagination. Remodeling designers were offering to construct or renovate quality roofs and ceilings, and walls and floors. I felt myself becoming more and more inspired. A group of eco-friendly window and door designers stood in the middle of the Isle. They smiled invitingly at passing onlookers. In every direction hundreds of people walked up and down the Isles. Children who came to the event with parents played on two giant playground systems with swings, slides, and seesaws.

Many giant kitchen exhibits stood around the corner. Electric stoves surrounded by excellently crafted kitchen cabinets and tables looked astonishing against elegant wallpaper. The large kitchens allowed people to walk around freely without bumping into one another. This idea was a dream come true for home owners who loved the convenience of big kitchens. Next up were the fancy heating systems and fireplace designs. These systems were built to maintain energy efficient homes.

In the next Isle, a group of luxurious bathing systems were on exhibit. Jacuzzis, pools, and spa designs competed for attention. These ideas appeared very pleasurable to me as I touched the warm bubbling water.

Down the main Isle, the Ideal Home annual exhibit was attracting a lot of attention. I took out my camera and took a few snapshots inside. The living room was awesome. A large scarlet sofa coordinated with a brown hardwood living room floor and solid white walls. A warm fireplace burned adjacent to the entrance. On the side tables lay small books with little lighted lamps. After leaving the living room, I stepped into a gorgeous kitchen. A lovely black marble table surrounded by silver and gold sinks captured my attention. You could see your reflection on the surface. Next to the sink stood a round surface eco-friendly black stove with large silver frames. The frames looked strong enough to cook a fifty pound pot of stew.

After the kitchen, I found myself approaching another small room. It possessed a small study table with overhead lamp along with a washer and dryer combination in the corner. Designers said it was built to operate silently for people who desire to wash and read at the same time. Next to this room was a large crimson and white bed room design. A king size bed with a uniquely patterned blanket matched the well crafted walls and expensive looking furniture. I could see why people found it hard to walk away from this room. The burgundy carpet was soft and inviting. I continued to move about the spacious house. Every room I visited tempted me to buy or remodel my home after this one. It undoubtedly made the same impression on other people. With this Ideal Home locked within my mind, I walked along the Isle and passed many eye catching exhibits. But I was eager to see the gardens.

The garden designs were like small pieces of paradises on the earth. Water fountains surrounded by botanic plants and flowers enlightened my senses. Little brick pathways that lead to small water pools offered a meditative atmosphere. Backyard gardens usually enhance the value of any home. The designers were happy to answer all my questions. They showed me picture books of their most outstanding creations. They assured me that they could build any design that I desired. I felt absolutely encouraged to redesign and remodel my home. My imagination was on fire. Gardens with little water fountains and tall plants always gave me a sense of peace.

I left the Home and Garden Show with a sense of appreciation for home design and styles. A sense of excitement stirred within me and I wanted spring to come soon. And' like many other Minnesota home and garden lovers, I also looked forward to next year's fantastic home and garden show.
