Minnesota Vikings Vs. San Francisco 49ers as Good as Advertised

Brett Favre Another Thrilling Comeback Victory

The San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings game, which featured two undefeated teams, was as good as advertised. Unfortunately for San Francisco, Frank Gore, their leading rusher and much of their offense, was hurt early in the game, and would not return. Without Gore, San Francisco still found a way to not only play well, but carry a lead over the Minnesota Vikings late into the fourth quarter.

However, things would change late in the game. Without the hard running Gore, San Francisco was unable to control the ball and run the clock out, which gave one of the games best quarterbacks at running the 2 minute drill, Brett Favre, another chance. In Favre fashion, number 4 threw a late touchdown, to give the Vikings a thrilling come from behind win.

This is one of those games, where you hate to see anyone loose, because both teams put on a good show. If people were told San Francisco would loose Frank Gore early on and still be beating the Vikings late in the game, it would've been hard to believe. While the 49ers lost the game, it is clear they are an improved team. They didn't have the talent on offense that the Vikings had, but they never gave up, and played hard for their coach, Mike Singletary. San Francisco will continue to improve, because Mike Singletary will push and motivate them to do so.

As for the Minnesota Vikings, three games into the season, and Brett Favre is looking like the missing piece, that will transform the Vikings into a legitimate playoff team. While Shaun Hill played okay, the 49ers are a Brett Favre away from having an offensive team that can play as well as their defense. Then again, so are a lot of teams.

San Francisco will go back to the NFC West next week to face the St. Louis Rams. While, the Minnesota Vikings will face the Green Bay Packers in the highly anticipated match up between, Brett Favre and his former team. I'm sure Mike Singletary never envisioned he'd be coaching against Brett Favre one day, after playing against him during his days on the Bears. Both men have improved their teams, Favre with his play on the field, and Singletary with his coaching. Many years after both men entered the league, they still appear to enjoy being around the game, which is fortunate for the game of football, because it could use more men like Brett Favre, and Mike Singletary.
