34 year old Jackie Sovick is a native of Bagley, Mn., a small Mn. community of around 1500 people, located in Northwestern Mn. in Clearwater County. Few people outside of the upper Midwest have probably never heard of Bagley, Mn., which is just a few miles from Itasca State Park and the headwaters of the Mighty Mississippi River. We may began to hear more from Bagley as we learn more about Miss Sovick's significant weight loss and the donation she has made in food to charity.
Sovick has already made one of the largest donations in the country, 153 lbs. of food to Keystone Community services. This is the third annual Lose For Good Program and Weight Watchers is urging individuals who lose weight to donate the equivalent in food to charity.
At her heaviest, Jackie Sovick weighed 312 lbs., but has lost about half of that, a whooping 153lbs. "It's amazing", Jackie states, "because you can't carry that amount of food in one trip, but you would be actually carrying it around on your body".
Aside from participating in the Weight Watcher's program, Sovick is exercising regularly, reading food labels and making healthy food choices to keep her weight off. So far it has all helped to keep the weight off for the past 6 months anyway.
"Your energy level is awesome", she said. "I did my first 5K a couple of weeks ago and I ran it in 35 minutes, which before you couldn't pay me to do a walk".
It is noted by Weight Watchers that these results aren't typical for the average client, but Sovick hopes to convince others that results like hers may be possible without resorting to surgery.
Hopefully Sovick's story may help others who are fighting with weight problems to make better choices in order to control any obesity issues they may be facing. Obesity is becoming more prevalent among individuals of all ages including children. Thanks to First Lady Michele Obama making us more aware of obesity, more seems to be being done about it to help control it in schools across America.
