Minor Surgery is What's Needed

Last summer there was a huge turnover of players and most people would agree it was necessary to get this great club back on track. This summer we are in a different situation with the nucleus of a strong squad already here; for the first time in many years there is a really influx of youth players. Korey Smith has been the most successful and it will be a big season for him.

I suspect Lambert will want to farm some players out on loan. There have already been strong hints towards Declan Rudd and Jed Steer going out on loan. Pros like Cody McDonald and Tom Adeyemi also seem to be prime candidates. Although, Norwich City fans are a little wary of this we have to suspect players will also be coming in on loan. I think this time we can have full faith that Paul Lambert will use the system sensibly.

Overall I expect minor changes in the most needed areas. Lambert will give players he thinks are worthy the opportunity in The Championship. The key areas for me will be central defence, a pacy winger, a goal scoring midfielder and at least two more strikers. We simply most have cover for Grant Holt and another clinical striker. Obviously Lambert will also need to address the goalkeeping situation, but we expect the No 1 choice to come in on loan. Therefore, I can see us signing 5/6 players on permanent contracts and bringing in 2/3 loans. I see this as minor surgery and not wholesale changes. Lambert will introduce the new signings gradually causing only limited disruption to the team. Irrespective of the new players coming in we will have a strong team spirit and winning mentality. Those are two attributes that can take us a long way this coming season.
