A New Twist to the Three-Day Diet

The three day diet is a quick and easy way to shed those last 10 pounds, jumpstart a new diet and fitness program, or so you can fit into your old swim suit. The diet isn't healthy though to maintain after the three day period, because it doesn't contain enough calories and essential vitamins and nutrients to fuel your body's metabolism.

The three day diet dates back to around 1985. I've created a twist to this well known fad diet, that has helped me and will help others as well. The diet itself calls for you to eat grapefruit in one of your meals. If you are on certain medications, especially those for high cholesterol or blood pressure, eating grapefruit is a no-no. It nullifies the medications usefulness.

This is my three day diet that works just as well as the original, if not better. You will lose 10 pounds in three days if you follow this guide to the letter.

Day 1 of the 3 Day Diet Menu:

Breakfast: Coffee/Tea with sugar substitute

One Mandarin Orange

1 piece of dry toast topped with 1 Tablespoon of

Peanut Butter

Lunch: coffee/tea with sugar substitute

1/2 cup of Albacore Tuna

1 piece of dry toast

Dinner: 3 ounces of lean meat (Chicken or Turkey preferred)

1 cup of green beans

1 cup of carrots

1 apple

Snack: 1 cup of low fat vanilla ice cream

Note for Day One: If you choose, you stir fry the meat and vegetables in 1 tsp. of hot olive oil.

Day 2 of the 3 Day Diet Menu


Breakfast: Coffee/Tea with sugar substitute

1 egg

1 slice of dry toast

1 Mandarin Orange

Lunch: 1 cup of cottage cheese or ½ cup of Albacore Tuna

8 saltine crackers
1/2 Banana

Dinner: 2 All Turkey or Beef Hot Dogs

1 Cup of Broccoli

1/2 cup of carrots

1/2 banana

Snack: 1/2 cup of low fat vanilla ice cream

Day 3 of the 3 Day Diet Menu


Breakfast: Coffee/Tea with sugar substitute

5 saltine crackers

1 ounce of cheese

1 Mandarin Orange

Lunch: Coffee/tea with sugar substitute

1 boiled egg

1 slice of dry toast

Dinner: 1 cup Albacore Tuna in water,

1 cup carrots

1 cup cauliflower

1 cup watermelon or cantaloupe

Desert: 1/2 cup of fat free vanilla ice cream

Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day.

You can add herbs, salt, pepper, lemon, vinegar, Worcestershire, soy sauce, mustard & ketchup to your foods.

You will notice a Mandarin orange is listed each day. Mandarins have been proven to enhance digestion, be good for the liver by dispelling toxins, and reduce allergens in some. If at all possible opt for buying the fresh mandarin oranges over the canned variety. If you do buy canned try to get the kind that is not processed with high fructose corn syrup.

The 3 Day Diet food combinations burn fat, increase energy, cleanse the body, or lower cholesterol. However, medical professionals and nutritionists agree that this diet is not nutritionally balanced, and can be unsafe, especially if continued beyond the three day guideline.
