Miranda Kerr Nude on Cover of Rolling Stone Australia

Supermodel Poses Nude for Rolling Stone Australia Green Issue

Victoria's Secret beauty Miranda Kerr has posed naked on the cover of Rolling Stone. To be more precise. the nude photo of Miranda Kerr is on the cover of the Australian issue of Rolling Stone. To be even more precise, Miranda Kerr's semi-nude body is on the Green Issue of the Australian Rolling Stone. To see the cover, click here.

The stunning Miranda Kerr posed nude on the cover of Rolling Stone to raise awareness about environmental issues in general and the plight of the koalas in particular. "Something like 80 percent of the koalas' habitat has been destroyed since Europeans arrived in Australia," says Miranda Kerr.

To my way of thinking there is nothing particularly abhorrent about posing semi-nude for a good cause. And saving the adorable koala bear is most definitely a worthy cause. So kudos to Miranda Kerr for using her beauty in a socially responsible way.

Entertainment Weekly writer Jennifer Armstrong, however, has a different opinion.

"On the rare occasions when there happens to be a female on Rolling Stone's legendary cover, it's rare she isn't naked," writes Armstrong. "Pretty much the only way to be female and not naked on RS is to be Taylor Swift -- good girl! -- or a mid- to post-breakdown Britney. I say it'd get more attention for any given "cause" at this point if they put a lady out there wearing something more than underwear."

And then she asked her readers to weigh in on the matter.

One commenter, Julie E, fully agrees with Jennifer Armstrong:

"The Rolling Stone writers ALL assume their audience is composed of men only," writes Julie E. "So they put naked women on the cover, they write lasciviously about women in the magazine--and are sexist in many other ways--and it never occurs to them that straight women might be reading and might not be interested in all that."

This is not to say that I have no beef with Rolling Stone. To be sure, the tone and direction of the magazine has shifted in recent years.

I agree with what commenter The True Bastard writes, "I haven't read Rolling Stone since they put Britney Spears on the cover; when it stopped being about music."

What do you think about Miranda Kerr posing on the cover of Rolling Stone, dear reader?

Cheers or jeers?

I'm not offended by the cover picture. She looks great. However, I'm not up on what RS puts on their covers & whether women have clothes on or not. If it's really the case that they are always naked or near naked, that's pretty obnoxious.

Cheers! That's pretty much what you see her wearing in the catalog anyway! If I were her age I would be chained naked to that tree for a 1/4 of the money she gets. :0
